Tactical shooting competitions and drag racing.
I used to race 4-wheelers but don’t any more.
I don’t know how to prove this. There are videos but not in my possession.
Double dagger fighting. From the SCA. The only proof I have is to ask Inspired_2_write . I won two gems at a bar brawl. One I got for winning the bar brawl, the second for backstabbing both of my teammates at the end of the fight when only they were left.
I traded them in for some blueberry wine. Unfortunately it was in a shelf too long before I tried it and the liquid had evaporated.
Fencing.
I was invited to the State championship.
There were some I used to be good at. I qualified regionally for the long jump when I was a teenager. I made it to the state level in the 800 meter then also. I used to be so competitive I would not even let anyone win the warmup lap in gym class. Now I’m not competitive at all.
I enjoy mountain biking but don’t race or even claim to be good at it. Is fishing a sport? I actually suck at it but I enjoy it too.
@Coolhandluke – I had a three wheeler too.
The last time I was on a motorized one, my sister tried to poke my eye out with a tree limb.
I used to be pretty good at ping pong, at Quarters, and Cornhole. So backyard sports. Oh and frisbee.
@KNOWITALL -Love ping pong! By Quarters, do you mean quarter bounce with beer as punishment? lol
We developed a game called Cro-jack.It was a combination of croquet & Jack Daniels. Miss a shot, do a shot.
I dislike Jack Daniels so much that I got good at croquet.
@lucillelucillelucille Ugh, I don’t even like to THINK about Jack Daniels. Way too many shots as a teenager and haven’t been able to drink it since.
Yes, I played with a lot of soldiers from Fort Leonard Wood, Mo, got pretty good at getting the fresh meat drunk! Cro-Jack sounds amazing, but what a twist on a classy lawn tennis game…lol
I use to be a pretty good long distance runner. Completed 59 full marathons (P.R. 2:36:10, sub 6 minutes per mile average pace). Usually placed in my age class in international marathons. Won the Monterey marathon once and the Russian River marathon twice and came in second overall a few times.
Pretty good at sprint triathlons too.
Fairly good in my latest kick of outrigger canoe racing on 6 man, 9 man and 12 man teams during the last 5 years. Usually made the podium at world class Hawaiian races. So much fun. Sad that this year’s outrigger canoe racing is pretty much not going to happen.
@KNOWITALL -Isn’t it though?lol Those balls got a beating!
@gondwanalon -That’s awesome! What is the difference between a regular & a sprint triathlon?
@lucillelucillelucille Different distances.
Sprint = half mile swim, 15 mile cycle, 5 K run
Olympic = 1 mile swim, 25 mile cycle, 10K run
Iron Man = 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle, 26.2 mile run
There’s also a half Iron Man.
I like the sprint because it’s short and sweet and a lot of fun.
@gondwanalon -One of my brothers has done triathlons but I am not sure which kind.
At any rate it sounds like quite a challenge!
Basketball and baseball. Although that’s not saying much, and I never played beyond pick-up games in the backyard or playground.
I’ve held back til now because modesty forbade, but wth right?
Running
Football
Tennis
Darts
Snooker/pool
Golf (okay, so I may have lied here)
If climbing buildings & jumping off counts, I will include that too.
@ucme- What about badminton? No one ever mentions badminton.
@lucillelucillelucille That’s because it should only be played in a nudist colony & only then because someone lost the volleyball.
@ucme -The volleyball is vacationing on an island with Tom Hanks.
