Are there any Republicans or Independents here who would vote for Jesse Ventura if he ran for president?

He’s thinking about it.

I recently saw a poll where he received 18% which would make the Green Party a viable party. This poll showed that he actually took votes away from Trump. This is why I’m asking the Republican and Independents here. This question isn’t for the Blue No Matter Who crowd. We know who you are voting for.
If I can find the poll I read I’ll share it but I just thought this might bring an interesting discussion and we can consider it a hypothetical question for now.

It would be really hard for me to vote for a fucking Wrestler. I don’t expect him to win, but getting the Green Party/other 3rd party to become a viable alternative to the Democratic Party is the most important priority for me. 5% gets them Federal funding and 15% gets them on the debate stage in 2024.
I’m not interested enough at the moment to do research, but I would at least entertain the idea if it looked like a reasonable way to express anti-establishment and pro-environment support without increasing the risk of more Trump circus madness.
About 98% of people who make the effort to get out and vote will only vote for the major candidates. Jill Stein was probably more of what most Barnie Sanders supporters actually wanted in 2016, but she got less than 1% of the vote.
I believe your view of the “blue no matter who crowd” is fundamentally flawed. It is a mistake to believe it understood who the conglomeration will be “voting for”. In my case, it is strictly a matter of who I will be voting against. For that matter, the primary qualification will be that he or she isn’t Trump! Nothing could be more simple. Never Trump is an accurate assessment of the blue crowd, and the infighting defining it, is regardless of its ferocity secondary to this premise.
Probably not, too socialist on economics, demilitarization is tricky, abortion on demand is against my core values.
NO, I wouldn’t vote for Jesse!!! This isn’t the first time that he’s run & he just doesn’t seem to understand that his wrestling career isn’t enough to get him elected President. It didn’t help him when he first retired & he was still in the minds of the people & I feel it really won’t help him now that he’s a used to be!!! I don’t know that he would be much better than trump. His ego is almost the same size & so is his massagonistic tendencies.
I am a registered Independent, and I have learned to have little or no faith in anyone who has been primarily known as an entertainer. I would also not vote for Clint Eastwood or Arnold Schwarzenegger, and I didn’t vote for Reagan or Trump, people whose name recognition is based on their value as entertainers.
@stanleybmanly, GA.
Make no mistake.
Were he to be made the candidate by the GOP, they all would vote for him.
All the rationalisations as for why he was “the best thing ever”, would come automatically afterwards, and they would internalise and convince themselves of them very quickly.
No, he’s a batty, conspiracy theory touting meat head who has no business running.
The more I hear about Ventura on this thread, the better he sounds to me. It’s a great image of how desperately terrible US politics are that wrestling seems like a much better professional background than the incumbent has (mega-rich failed scumbag businessman/con-artist and reality TV joke personality).
@stanley You can look at all the moderated responses to see why I asked to not hear from the blue no matter who crowd. FYI- I didn’t flag those responses. I wanted them left to show how ridiculous and unhelpful they were to the conversation I asked. I was basically yelled at. I asked for a civil discussion that has nothing to do with the never Trump crowd. It was also assumed that I would be voting for Jesse which is not the case. This question is hypothetical at this point and nowhere did I say how I would be voting. I thought it might make for an interesting discussion.
Since you are responding I won’t edit my answer but instead add a new response to what I would like to add.
One of the responses above was the tired “any vote for third party is a vote for Trump.”
I knew I would hear that from some and it does not answer my General question. I added a link in the comments that prompted my interest in asking this question. A poll was taken and it showed that Trump is losing some Independent voters and they would be willing to vote for Jesse. This would actually help Biden, not hurt him.
And the discussion IS interesting whether or not it proceeded in the direction you desired. No matter the outcome, the results in November are going to amount to primarily who voted for or AGAINST Trump. And you can bet your ass that in his self centered view of existence, any vote for Ventura or Jesus Himself is a direct and deliberate act of uncontrolled hatred of the Donald.
^Agreed. (For the most part.)
And the discussion IS interesting whether or not it proceeded in the direction you desired.
The only thing I didn’t want in the responses was “You have to vote for Biden! Any other vote is a vote for Trump!”
That is what I first received from one person and they wouldn’t quit even when I told them politely that they were off topic. This is why I stressed in my details that I didn’t want to hear from that crowd. It adds nothing to the question I asked and only causes strife. I appreciate everyone else who has stayed on topic. I wanted this to be civil and everyone has after the moderated comments.
