I can go into a reverie upon seeing some visual arts, but it happens more often with music and song.

Music and literature are my top two.

KNOWITALL's avatar

Music and visual art such as paintings or sculptures, and literature.

Don’t make me choose – it’s a three way tie!

Generally everyone falls into one or more of the senses that of
sight,,sound ,taste,feelings.

I like all but depends on the makeup of each as certain music is pleasing to me while others loud and obnoxious however as we age I suspect our tastes change.

Words I like writing but I am not a descriptive writer but rather a narrative writer, however I sometimes like the writings of some descriptive books.

( Diana Gabaldon books especially the Outlander series as it involves History, and unusual scenes with time travel concepts etc)..which is a surprise.

I love photography which is a visual medium especially unusual or rare scenes that conveys a feeling of serenity and wholeness etc

Also bright colors as well excite the senses.

Paintings…somewhat but only if it show Historically what it was like in past eras as true scenes etc.

I suppose from collecting cookbooks over the years are interesting to see these images that convey family life around the world. ( taste senses as well as visual).

I like Nature in itself untouched scenes and fresh air, hence I like hiking in the woods,Mountains and possibly in my future sea side scenes too as this reminds me of our privilege to be in this world of wonders from the most small to the universe that surrounds us..a feeling of gratefulness is felt.

After researching for years on our families origins I realize the importance of leaving a legacy to ones descendants such as a daily diary/journal about how we lived in this time and about relatives pertinent facts that would help those descendants appreciate from whence they came from and realize that because of our ancestors struggles we are here to enjoy a better life.
Pardon the reflective moment conveyed but this is what I feel today.
Your question had brought out those feelings, thank you very much. I have kept a copy for my diary.

Music, hands down.

I suppose music is the fair answer, but I have a pretty deep relationship with visual art for obvious reasons.

Movies & interpretive dance.
I’m always quoting some film or other in my everyday life whilst also parading about the place like Shirley Temple on steroids…that shit acted like hair straighteners on the lil mite

KNOWITALL's avatar

@ucme I’d pay to see your interpretive dance, my friend.

I would have to say cinema. I’ve consumed and enjoyed it for decades now, even used it as philosophy and religion it seems. In other words, therapy. Lol

Music then Visual Art. Mostly because good music is so readily available today.

That said, I did spend eight hours in the Louvre once which was sublime.

JLeslie's avatar

Visual, especially love architecture and paintings lately.

Music too, but my ears have been noisy lately so I need more silence of late.

Theatre and literature

Movies, then music.
The rub here is I really don’t listen to new music.

Jons_Blond's avatar

Nature and wildlife photography is my thing so visual it is.

rockfan's avatar

Music. Whenever I listen to a wonderful piece of classical music or a jazz song, I get chills, and emotional. But for some reason, I don’t have that same kind of reaction when looking at a painting. It’s ironic because I love to paint, but I can’t play an instrument.

This is a terrible question!
How in the world am I supposed to choose one?!?

I’ve probably consumed written the most. But visual makes my brain hum happily. And music can make my mind soar.

Gah! Sorry for the non-answer. Couldn’t do it, man.

@raum See my answer above. I’m with you.
