Would you eat at a restaurant's outdoor patio with adequate spacing?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33578points) May 9th, 2020

One of my favorite places opened this weekend – not for indoor dining, but outside on their spacious patio.

I drove by – didn’t stop – but they looked moderately busy. They seem to have at least 6 feet between tables. The one server I saw had on a mask.

And the weather here is quite acceptable for sitting outdoors.

What’s your thinking, is it too early to eat outdoors at a restaurant?

I’d go indoors given the opportunity.

I’d go outdoors even if the weather was bad

I think I’ll still be leery for quite a while. I have friends who own a restaurant, I might see how they are handling it first. We;re still on a take out only for restaurants here as the death rate is still very high.

Not yet. The restaurants here are already getting busy from what I understand, I haven’t ventured out.

I’m not eating in a restaurant until I know servers are not allowed to touch dirty plates and high touch items like pens. Not one restaurant has mentioned this they all just talk about spacing.

It would be nice if all cooks and wait staff were wearing masks. I’m sure that don’t happen in a hot kitchen.

I’ve been dealing with a lung problem so I’m more on edge about it all.

I’m in a wait and see mode. Waiting to see if numbers where I live start to climb again.

No, not yet. When? I dunno. I also want to watch the numbers.

I just read on facebook a suggestion on Facebook for the restaurants around the town squares to expand outdoor seating by asking the developer to close off the road that goes around the square. Sounds like a good idea. People commented that it is already being done in Ybor in Tampa, FL and Winter Park, FL. It has be wondering if Disney Springs is going to open up? Maybe it is open already. It has tons of outdoor seating, but is usually a mob seen of people.

I would, once our medical authorities announced that it was safe. I’ve heard that will be May 15, and I think that’s for LA county, but other counties might have different release dates.

I’d remove my mask, once we were seated.

Yes I would. As long as the weather was good for it, I love eating outside at a restaurant patio. Also I am not afraid to eat inside a place either if they were open. Our county doesn’t have too overly bad now though.

We’ve had several places open up the outdoor seating with 8 foot spacing & their sign says no party larger than 3 or 8 if the same household. Here we all know our neighbors so knowing who lives in the same household wouldn’t be a problem. I would think that would be a nightmare for cities as large as Atlanta where you have to depend on the honesty of the customers as to with whom they live. My understanding is that the restaurants MUST disinfect the area between each table turnover & the servers are required to wear masks & gloves. I’m NOT quite ready to get back out in public just yet, so I’m still doing the takeout thing!!!

Oh, I forgot, the restaurants here are limiting their occupancy to half of full capacity to assist in the social distancing strategy.

Yes, provided that I could be up wind of everybody else.

We seldom eat out as I love to cook for my family and they love the food that I cook

Of course, yes!
I would demand any waiter remove their mask though.
Stop that, It’s silly!

I wouldn’t. I wish I could have the option to, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable, yet.

I might feel comfortable getting the food to go and sitting on a park bench somewhere, but not sitting in a crowded patio area, even if others were six feet away.

No, not yet. Too many idiots out there not wearing masks, gloves or taking any precautions whatsoever.

Plus other countries are seeing the second wave now.
