Am I slightly under qualified?
I’ve been at the same job with no growth for 4 years now so it’s time to go! Especially since I graduated with my MBA.
I have a phone interview tomorrow as HR Business Partner! I fit most of the requirements but the part where it mentions offers solutions and ideas to improve work efficiency makes me nervous. I’m not too confident because my current role doesn’t have a large part in that. I pretty much have no voice.
Though, I have done small things for efficiency like create electronic filing systems, onboarding appt which reduced my interruptions greatly at work, shared folders instead of several copies of paper to everyone, etc.
I also implemented an electronic approval process for forms through a platform though it wasn’t my idea. It was to be done when I first started but only got implemented by me this year due to budget.
I edited our search procedures and made suggestions but it was never reviewed even though it’s so outdated and they keep pushing it off.
Are these valid enough?

You seem more than qualified.
That criterion is vague and subjective, but allows you to discuss that “within the strictures of your job” you sought to make things ore efficient.
Thanks that makes me feel alittle better. They mention it a couple times so I’m wondering how often the expect me to provide solutions and ideas for improvement. I think it’s something that could be asked if I’m brought in for an interview but I would assume it’s as needed or identified…

Practice describing a couple of ideas a few times so you don’t have to search for words.

In my experience, what they really mean is how to reduce employees with tech.
Leave out the part where the platform wasn’t your idea. They don’t need to know that. Other than that, you are well qualified. Own that job interview! And let us know, please.

Hello all. Just an update…my interview went overall pretty good. The beginning I think was a little awkward because when she spoke I didn’t understand her greeting or her question. Her heavy Irish accent threw me off so I had to really listen closely. I was a little nervous in the beginning but became more comfortable as we continued to speak. I think I have good answers, I tried to be conscious of how fast I was talking since I was a little nervous.
She did ask for salary requirements and I told her it was negotiable, a lot of factors come into play and that I was really interested. I said 70k starting although I have no idea their range…I pulled this from the average salary for this position in my town ($76–80k). She then told me that she will pass me to the hiring managers so then it’s up to them if they want to interview me. Since this is a new branch of HR at the company and working on a few things , they will likely call in 3–4 weeks if I’m selected. This is a huge company by the way.
