If something happened to Biden at this point, health, etc., that he could not continue his run for president, who takes his place?

Asked by chyna (51598points) May 13th, 2020

Whether or not he has a running mate, if that makes a difference.

Since the convention hasn’t taken place yet, Biden isn’t actually the nominee. That’s why news articles keep referring to him as the “presumptive” Democratic nominee for president. So at this point, anyone could replace him so long as they could get the delegates to agree.

See above.
The candidate that is is nominated at the convention.

The buzz is that it could be Gov. Cuomo. The guy who made state hospitals send infected seniors back to assisted living facilities in order to localize the infection to the most susceptible.
Good luck, Guv.

Michael Avanotti promised a lot of legal action against Trump, and was once a viable candidate, lauded by the media and talk shows.

And I hear he’s even released from prison already!

Just as well run that Clinton flag back up the pole. Trump will be winning again anyway.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Patty_Melt The theory is that she is Bidens VP, he dies mysteriously and she gets President. Haha!

@josie: My guess about Cuomo is that he won’t run this time, because there’s a great chance that Trump will win. So Cuomo will bide his time, do his work in NYS, and run in 4 years, when it’s totally up for grabs.

I’m hearing rumblings that Biden plans on asking Cuomo to be his running mate to help strengthen his ticket.

@LadyMarissa
Wasn’t Joe Biden the guy that promised to pick a female for VP.
Is Gov. Cuomo reviewing his gender identification?

jca2's avatar

The four I’ve seen as possibilities for Biden are Warren, Adams, Klobuchar and Harris.

@jca2 You mean Abrams, don’t you?

GA, @janbb. Yes. I meant Abrams.

@josie You keep posting Cuomo ordered “infected seniors” to be brought to nursing homes. Are you sure it’s not medically stable patients who had other health issues who haven’t been tested for Covid19 and who needed post-hospitalization care?

They’re not necessarily infected just not tested. If I’m not mistaken these people needed a place to go and the directive is to prevent possible discrimination from nursing homes.

No—on March 25th he ordered COVID-19 patients into non-medical nursing homes, accounting for ⅓ of the deaths in NYC. The nursing homes begged for over five weeks that they were not equipped as medical facilities and had extremely vulnerable populations.

Two new hospitals built by the U.S. government for the pandemic stood nearly empty—the Javitt Center and the U.S.N.S. Comfort. Cuomo’s remarks were that these hospitals were to only accept transfers from other hospitals, not nursing homes.

Cuomo doesn’t deserve your defending him.

@josie Biden is a politician through & through. It doesn’t matter what he’s said up to now, he’d ask my dog to be his running mate IF he thought it would get him the votes he needs!!!

@Yellowdog We deserve a link, man! That Cuomo sent Covid19 patients into nursing homes which caused ⅓ of the deaths in NYC. Did you get your info from Fakking Fox News again?

Yellowdog's avatar

@mazingerz88 It looks like @hmmmmmm has beaten me to the point. Is National Public Radio not good enough for you?

Then turn on the news. And if your news is hiding this from you, why not try Fox? They’ve never gotten it wrong so far.

mazingerz88's avatar

That NPR link did not mention about Cuomo sending Covid infected patients to nursing homes and that it caused the number of deaths you mentioned. Where is that link? Up trump’s ass again?

jca2's avatar

The first link provided by @hmmmmmm is for Wall Street Journal and it’s not accessible without an account. Second link says the USNS Comfort has been largely empty but says nothing about Covid positive patients being ordered to nursing homes.

hmmmmmm's avatar

Sorry about the bad link. I just took a random one. Also, I didn’t provide a link for @Yellowdog‘s claim in the ⅓ claim. Rather, I just wasn’t sure how you wouldn’t have heard of the March 25th order to send patients to nursing homes, which has since been repealed following significant backlash.

hmmmmmm's avatar

On Friday, the AP published this, stating that 4500 C19 patients were sent to NY nursing homes.

I get the impression that it he dies, they would vote for his corpse.
