Any experience and opinions with different home phone providers?

I’m looking for inexpensive, good quality, and I don’t need any extras like vmail or call waiting. I want unlimited calls local and long distance, if it includes international that would be great, but not necessary. I don’t care if I have to drop my current number and get a new one.

I don’t have copper lines, so I guess it has to be through my internet service? My husband wants to switch to Xfinity, and they don’t offer phone here so I am exploring, Vonage, MagicJack, and alike.

I appreciate any information you have on the topic.
