In the Star Trek original and The Next Gen series, why didn’t the away teams have body cameras with them?

So whoever’s in charge in the bridge can see in real-time whatever the team were looking at and seeing? Thanks.
I haven’t seen any of the Voyager and Deep Space 9 series and can’t recall if they had body cams in The Enterprise series with Bakula.

Because they had an entire camera crew with them. No need.
In TOS, it’s just not part of their equipment design. An away team generally does have at least one Tricorder, which is much more advanced and capable than a camera, capable of scanning, analyzing and recording far more than fixed video.
It’s like, why don’t modern police carry an oil lantern?
On the other hand, Star Fleet tends to be pretty overconfident about their ability to maintain control of situations and so they don’t generally constantly record everything. And some of that is probably just convenient bad procedures written by writers who weren’t thinking very hard about it and/or were more interested in getting the crew into difficult situations for entertainment purposes. It seems like 90% of the shows feature unexpected equipment failures of one sort or another.
