Care to share positive stories about people working together to combat the coronavirus?

I know there is a lot that could have been done better and can be done better. I know a lot of people have died that didn’t need to, and a lot of people are hurting who could be better supported. I know there are people making this into a partisan issue. But I’m wanting a discussion that focuses on the wins, the successes, the positives (whether they are large or small). I’m hoping you do, too.

I’ll get the ball rolling:

On a larger scale, I heard that a Drexel study estimates that stay-at-home orders have saved over 230,000 lives across 30 major metropolitan regions in the US (and prevented over 2 million hospitalizations across those same regions). As my local area improves at social distancing practices, testing accessibility, and contact tracing capacity so that we can return to something more resembling normalcy, it’s heartening to hear the difference that the first stage of response has made (estimate has a little under 20,000 lives saved in my local area).

On a smaller scale, I was at the grocery store and realized someone was waiting to get by me. When I apologized and moved aside for them, they told me, “No worries. We’re all in this together.” It was heartening to hear. We saw each other at another part of the store and smiled at each other (well, “smized”—I think we’re all quickly getting very good at smizing), and it was nice to have that moment of connection—that yes, we are a community, and yes, we are working together.

What positive stories do you have?

Our county has a special number to call for people ( seniors mostly who live alone ) who might need non-medical emergency help at anytime and volunteers are ready to go to them if needed.

My neighbors and I have gotten much closer. We’ve been bringing treats we bake to each other and also going in together on grocery orders.

A friend told me that they are intubating people less and finding more alternatives to it which makes me very glad.

The most inspirational stories I have heard is how so many healthcare workers across the US used vacation time or unpaid time to go help in New York.
For once it had nothing to do with politics or race, just other Americans needed help so they went without hesitation.

Even I must grudgingly admit it really is uplifting to see the good in us so widely demonstrated. Such behavior is hell on cynicism.
