I want to send a slug to my friend who just moved back there, but I don’t want to kill it in the process. Suggestions for how to package and send it?

There are standard packing procedures for earthworms that would probably suit you well. Try contacting a bait shop and see how they get their nightcrawlers. Probably, sealed styrofoam with some moist dirt inside and shipped overnight…but I’m not exactly sure.
Probably not packed in salt, by the way.
You can’t “kill” a bullet.

Oh…. THAT kind of slug.
Excuse me.

I gotta give you points for creativity. I have never thought of mailing anyone a slug before.
Imagine opening THAT package!
That’s some real “snail mail.”
Put him on the correct interstate with a compass and a little sigh that says, “Austin——>”.
Given the mail these days, he could slither faster.
Many years ago, there was a staged contest of some sort, between the Old-style “Pony Express,” and the present-day USPS, with each being given a letter to mail from St. Joseph, Missouri, to a California location.
Please guess which one won.
