I don’t remember writing this flippant remark, but there it is:

”. . . the generals who support Trump want him to win because they’ve always had a secret desire to stage a military coup.”

That was October 15, 2016, less than 4 weeks before the last election, when nobody but Michael Moore thought Trump was going to win.

Yes, I do agree.

Here’s Mattis’s written statement as it appears in the Washington Post.

If you can’t access it or find it elsewhere, PM me and I will copy it for you.

How many ways can you say moron? How many people need to say it? Who bothers to dispute it? What is to be done about it?

Hey @KNOWITALL “What about Obama. . . . Hillary. . . . ?” does not work.

Bozo the Clown has been called out by someone that didn’t have his daddy buy a college diploma, Mattis also believes in The Constitution which your hero has shown repeatedly he has no interest in following.

@Tropical_Willie Nothing works, let alone facts.

I agree. It was SO obvious!

Smh
He is arguing against something which has not happened. The military has not been called out to control or attack peaceful citizens. The issue at hand is using military to protect citizens from the aggressive behaviors of thugs. His intent was clearly put forth verbally in a speech which most media played only in part in such a way as to give it opposite meaning.

I think the general is around the bend, and the VA should be attentive in medicating him.

Side note, I knew Trump was going to be POTUS. Lots of us knew it.

He is arguing against something which has not happened.

What has happened is that Trump said he would bring in the military. and 82nd Airborne troops were moved to Andrews Air Force Base outside Washington.

Besides Mattis, people who have warned Trump include:
Defense Secretary Mark Esper
“I do not support invoking the Insurrection Act.”

Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
“America is not a battleground. Our fellow citizens are not the enemy.”

Admiral Mike Mullen, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
Trump has, “laid bare his disdain for the rights of peaceful protest in this country, gave succor to the leaders of other countries who take comfort in our domestic strife, and risked further politicizing the men and women of our armed forces.”

Retired Admiral James G. Stavridis:
“Our active duty military must remain above the fray of domestic politics, and the best way to do that is to keep that force focused on its rightful mission outside the United States…I fear for the soul of our military and all of the attendant consequences.”

I am a vet. The oath I took involved the words all enemies foreign and domestic.
Mic drop.

People destroying property on large scale and with intent, are a public enemy. It is called terrorism, and it matters not what your citizenship is.

Ignore. Ignore. Ignore the truth.

No one was looting yesterday around Chinatown in DC where protesters were yet trump ordered military choppers to hover above and shine lights on them. Or something like that.

The TV show host is dangerously playing with what he think as his toys.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Ooooooo
Hovering with lights!
My neighborhood gets that sometimes.

Your rudeness I will simply ignore.

Many areas police have found where supplies are hidden in bushes to be used later.
If there were lights, then they were in violation of the 7pm curfew, so there is that to consider.
You have a very warped sense of reality if you think anyone will believe POTUS considers military personnel or equipment to be toys.

mazingerz88's avatar

Yeah. They’re all the same things.

The US Military, the National Guard, FBI, CIA, DEA and the Mickey Mouse Club following protesters.

Warped indeed.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Here we go! Now it’s a party!

Soubresaut's avatar

@Patty_Melt—if Trump is truly using the military to protect protestors, why isn’t he doing more to speak for peace and unity? Why isn’t he doing more to focus the national spotlight on the peaceful protestors even while trying to stop the people who are misbehaving? Why isn’t he using his position as President to help magnify local efforts to solve the problems that the protests are about? Why is he, instead, using his platform as President to amplify the violent aspects and encourage violence as a response?

People destroying property on large scale

Are a minor problem right now. You seem unaware of what is going on.

Apparently your news sources protect you from stories like this, but on the White House’s orders, police attacked peaceful protesters with tear gas and flash grenades at the nearest church to allow Trump to walk over and wave a Bible for the cameras. Then Trump made another phony display of religiosity visting a Catholic shrine.

The clergy is disgusted.

‘I’m a priest. The police forced me off church grounds for Trump’s photo op’

Episcopal bishop on President Trump: ‘Everything he has said and done is to inflame violence

Baffling and reprehensible’: Washington’s Catholic archbishop lashes out at President Trump’s visit to John Paul II shrine

stanleybmanly's avatar

Mattis is correct concerning use of the army to quell peaceful protest. And teargassing a crowd to facilitate the grandstanding of a fool with a bible in front of a church is so contemptible a tactic, that I am again embarrassed for the fool’s transparent showboating and incendiary stoking of civil unrest.

The Epoch Times? Seriously? The mouthpiece for the Falon Gung is to be trusted in preference to the corporate media?
