Did your check to the IRS during COVID get cashed quickly? Have you ever used IRS online direct pay?

I need to pay the IRS and I was going to drop the check in the mail without bothering to do it certified, because I’m not fond of going into the post office right now (It’s small and a lot of people don’t wear masks). Then, I started thinking if the IRS is slow right now, I might get into a situation wondering if they received my payment if they don’t cash the check right away.
I read that there is IRS Direct Pay online. Have you used it? When I owned a business I paid online for sales tax to the state every month and it worked fine.

I paid by mail (mid May) and it was processed very quickly With no problems.
I paid the IRS on-lime this year and it worked fine. They send a receipt dated and time stamped to your email, so you don’t have to worry about whether they received it. It works great.
@Jaxk You received an email regarding the check you mailed in? Or, do you mean the online payment?
I just finished my taxes and am going to pay automatic withdrawal for the first time for my quarterlies.
I highly recommend https://www.irs.gov/payments/direct-pay. The system’s been around for a long time and is fully vetted. All of my clients use the system, as do I. You receive an instant confirmation of successful payment; no messing with Certified Mail, and no worries about a check getting lost or misplaced.
When you get a confirmation number, you’ll want to keep a paper and/or electronic copy of the webpage.
@JLeslie – The response was to my on-line payment.
You can pay online. I couldn’t though….and that’s when I found out that the Social Security people had Rick’s birthday wrong.
