Do You LIke Horseradish and Wasabi ?

Asked by Tropical_Willie (31435points) June 16th, 2020

I’ve got jars and tubes of both in my refrigerator, add horseradish to jarred Cocktail Sauce for Shrimp Cocktail, I use the wasabi to make a Mayo and wasabi (maybe some lime juice) for Salmon fillets.

I like them both. Just had some horseradish on a French dip sandwich night before last.

Blending wasabi into some mayo sounds intriguing., like perfect for a shrimp po’boy.

Oh yes. Mmmmmmmm.

No.
I have very bland tastes.
No peppers, no Chinese mustard sauce, and absolutely no wasabi.

No. Enjoy yourself.

In measured doses – sure

I knew this guy who thought the glob of wasabi paste with his sushi was like green hummus or something. He ate the whole thing in one bite.
Outstanding result!

Yes, in appropriate amounts.

@josie “He ate the whole thing in one bite.”
I’ve seen that happen in anime.

Oh I love horseradish, it’s so underrated. Yum.

I like horseradish in small amounts. I’ll take a pass on the wasabi.

I like hot stuff, though. My neighbors grow and can horseradish. I get a big jar from them that lasts me until the next season.

At age 10 or so I shoved a big spoonful of horseradish into my mouth, thinking it was coleslaw. Horseradish out your nose hurts.

Nope and nope.

A little bit. I’m not a fan of the nose-rush that happens when you eat too much of it, though.

Yes! I love them both. I like to add horseradish to my potato salad. Wasabi is really good, in small doses, and very unique in flavor. Occasionally, well before Covid, when I used to go there, one of the big Asian grocery stores would have fresh wasabi, which is different from regular horseradish, so you could grate it yourself.

I do, they have their place and some foods would not be the same without them.

I don’t like horseradish but I love wasabi

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

I like horseradish.
I mean it this time.

Yes to both. Though my tolerance for spicy foods seems to have gone down over the years. So only in small doses these days. :/

Another endorsement for wasabi mayonnaise. Trader Joe’s sells one. Though a homemade version would probably be even better.

@raum -What do you put that on?

raum's avatar

Sandwiches!

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@raum -So not on pancakes then? lol

@raum

“Sandwiches!”

NEI

@raum -Tell me the answer. man! Please… :)

Pancake sandwiches?

Brian1946's avatar

There’s no such thing as too much starch in your diet!

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@Brian1946 Not true, if your A1C is over 7.5 you have diabetes. Caused by TOO much starch and sugar.

raum's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille But it’s so yummy!

Brian1946's avatar

@Tropical_Willie

I realize that.

My quip was just a facetious hyperbole directed at @raum‘s pancake sandwich musing.
I thought my comment was so preposterous, that it didn’t need a tilde.
