Why do some people tend to idealize so much the person they are staring to get know?

Sooner or later, limerence fades and gives way to reality.
I wonder why your girlfriend would tell you all that?

Lovestruck! Most of us have been there. There’s nothing rational about falling in love.

Confirmation bias.

When we first meet them, they are perfect as we can still see what it is that we want them to be. After a while, we see their true nature and discover that perfect is the wrong word to describe them

Now, if we fall in love with them, we learn the true meaning of the old saying Love is blind. No matter how stupid they become, we still see the goodness in them at least until we get past the love stage

It is called the halo effect.

I think we simply see what we want to see if we are attracted to someone. We also tend to maximize positives and minimize negatives so the seratonin keeps flowing.
