In Sowpiercer (2013) the guards coat their axes in fish blood prior to attacking the rioters. This is done to grant +2 poisson damage to melee attacks.

@ragingloli The fish ties in later with the sushi scene where they talk about balancing the train’s ecosystem. The tail’s rebellion was planned and it was planned that most of them would die.

Florida is the flattest state in the US. Highest point is 345 ft above sea level.

@ARE_you_kidding_me and @ragingloli I feel like I missed something on Snowpiecer. I always watch it late at night, and fall asleep partway through. I have only been able to see season 1 though episode 5 I think. I watch it on demand.

ARE_you_kidding_me's avatar

@JLeslie That series does not do the film or graphic novel justice. I would watch the film.

@lucillelucillelucille: I love his comedy!! Fellow Bostonian and original sense of humor.

I came home and everything in my apartment had been stolen…and replaced with an exact replica.

There’s this light switch in my place that doesn’t turn on any lights. I’ll sometimes flick it up and down when I walk by. The other day I got a letter in the mail from a lady in Germany saying “Cut it out”.

I called 411 yesterday and asked “Where’s my other sock?”
— she said “Behind the couch.”

It is meant to be a form of unconscious self comforting, rather like thumb sucking or stroking one’s hair.

Buzz Aldren was the second man to step onto the Moon. His exit from the lander was delayed by his urine bag detaching from his leg, and dropping onto his boot. After a long struggle trying to fix this, he went on out to the lunar surface. As he stepped onto the Moon, he also stepped onto his urine bag, bursting it.
He said he never felt such a conflict of emotions before.

Widely known as the mother of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale also developed a form of data visualization known as a rose diagram (think pie chart meets bar graph) and used it (as part of a giant report she authored) to help effect change in the way hospitals are sanitized and made sterile to reduce infection.

Write down a 3 digit number. Then write down the 3 digit number such that the two of them add to 999. If you form a 6 digit number by putting one of the 3 digit numbers in front of the other, the new number will always be divisible by 37.

Example: Make the first number 437. Then the second number is 562, Using a calculator, we find that 437,562 = 37×11826 and 562,437 = 37×15201

My brother had a Gremlin. He would drive me to school and I would make him let me out a block away.

LostInParadise's avatar

@ucme‘s word strengths has five consecutive consonants at the end. I wonder if there are any words with six or more consecutive consonants. There could be several consonants at the end of a syllable followed by several consonants beginning the next syllable. It is fairly easy to get words that have five consonants in this way – nightstand, birthplace and lengthwise.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

I don’t if this counts Joseph John “Tym” Tymczyszyn.

My dad worked with him and I went to school with one of his sons.
