i dont feel that real love exists anymore
so i see all love stories as fairy tales meant only to give us idealistic mind sets
I definitely second The Notebook!
The Bridges of Madison County
The one I’m living now :-)
Fiction: Probably Lizzie and Mr. Darcy (Fitzwilliam)
Reality: Mine, of course.
@Marina, @hearkat, @tiny I’d love to hear details if it’s not too personal…. I would love to hear a good love story and give Fallenangel a reason to give love another chance.
im in the middle of it, but The Persimmon Tree by Bryce Courtenay
@ mzgator – I second gift of the magi
movie – Say Anything
@bri, I give you a pen…. Great movie! Forgot that one.
Steve Martin and Mary Steenbergen in Parenthood.
@ Trudacia – nice quote! “are you cold?” “no, just happy” I can’t hear “In Your Eyes” without thinking of that movie.
I had 14 people call me and tell me to see the film because they said I WAS Lloyd Dawbler. Kinda cool.
@ SuperMouse – Excellent choice!
I’m a sucker for Korean and Japanese dramas. My Girl, Coffee Prince, Hana Yori Dango… That’s where it’s at.
@Bri_L: I really never liked Say Anything except I loved the bit about selling.
@all: For a great movie love story I really liked Hi Fidelity. The book was great, too.
For TV, Rose and the Doctor, Buffy and Angel, then Spike and Drucilla—each for very very different reasons.
Of course, I like my own story most of all.
Cheers!
Umm @bri, like Loyd are you? What are you doing Saturday night?
Movie: Garden State, Andrew and Sam
TV: Avatar, Aang and Katara
Book: Stargirl, Leo and Stargirl
Personal: None
@ Trudacia – hehe Not selling anything sold bought or processed, thats for sure.
@ cyndyh Hi Fidelity was good to
@aneedle – NO WAY. Katara and Zuko should have been together.
Ours seemed at first unlikely. We were work friends. I was not looking for anything serious and neither was he. We were dating casually, but we felt so comfortable with each other, and we enjoyed each other’s company so much that we fell in love.
There was an office pool on how long our marriage would last. The longest bet was five years. I think we won, though, since it has been 25 years!
Fiction: Roland and Susan. Stephen King The Dark Tower 4 Wizard and Glass.
Scarlett and Rhett
Harry and Sally
Annie and Alvy
Elizabeth and Darcy
Gatsby and Daisy
note that several of those don’t end particularly well
Definitely The Princess Bride. And mine too, of course! =)
@ljs22: Re: things not ending well. I was tempted to say Sid and Nancy, but I didn’t because that didn’t end particularly well either.
Mine!
Also, Susan’s in Terry Pratchett’s the Thief of Time. It is relatively understated, but absolutely amazing.
Other than that, I started listing them but it turns out I just really, really like romances so in the interest of keeping it short I’ll leave it at that.
Fiyero and Elphaba
Holly and Paul
Lyra and Will
Arthur and Gatty
Aragorn and Arwen
Sleepless in Seattle
When Sally met Harry
Sabrina
Henry and Claire in The Time Traveler’s Wife
Shu Lien and Li Mu Bai in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
Beren and Luthien from the Silmarillion
The Return of Martin Guerre and a little something over on Fanfiction.net
My wife’s and my story. Long story, but good!
Garion and C’nedra( I bet nobody knows them!)
The notebook
Sam and Rosie
Aragon and Arwin
An Affair to Remember
You Kill Me
Ghost
Oliver and Jennifer Barrett (Love Story)
movie: The Living End (1992)
As far as movies go, Annie Hall takes the cake for me.
