In 2020, are you pumped up to face the challenges of the times or do you feel helpless and defeated?

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. That’s how I live.
It’s a peculiar situation for me. While I view the near term situation for myself and most of those close to me as favorable, I view the direction and outlook of the country as painfully myopic with increasingly less of which to recommend or look forward to with any hope. As an excuse, I attribute these feelings to old age and continue to indulge in the national deception that “things are fine if I’ve got mine”.
Well, there is a middle ground you know.
I’m still young so I have energy and fight in me still. Things may change in the future, though lol.
We are in the process of facing it now.
For the most part I am just coasting along. However, I fight the fights that I can.
Every time I get depressed about 2020, I watch this video, to remind myself that everything could turn out alright.
Neither. I’m plugging along but exhausted.
I’m in the middle. Things are not that bad.
I’m on the “Things are really bad,” end.
I’m just taking things as they come. As for my personal life, I’ve been through the ringer the past several years, so now that things have come to a bit of a lull I’m just enjoying that. I am not interested in being pumped up for anything. I just want to be.
As for the state of the world, I try to keep my eyes on my goals and not to get too distracted with what everyone else is saying, because I tend to feel very differently from the crowd when the social climate gets the way that it has been. That can be tiring, because everyone needs to be able to lean into a like minded ear every now and then. But, all in all I’m a big believer that even though things can get really bad, they always work out in the long run and I think that applies here too. Which I don’t really need to be pumped up or defeated about, though I have my moments of both… pretty sure we all do. I think things are not as bad as they seem, but the culture we live in makes everything so urgent and we have a crisis in our face every moment of every day that it can easily wear a person out if you let yourself get dragged into it.
@dxs Same.
Feeling like I have to force myself to do things but I’m alive so what can I really complain about.
Just don’t feel motivated to truly do anything anymore.
It is frightening to me to be informed that the virus is being spread through peoples’ shoes. This cut down my mood a notch this morning.
@Aster Do you have a link for that? I have not read that.
Oh boy! But the article says that is in ICU wards with COVID patients so I’m not going to panic about that yet.
Of course it could! The virus doesn’t live that long outside the host though.
@Aster I always take my shoes off the moment I step inside the door. Tho that was generally something I did before Covid anyway.
