For instance, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Heart Association both say men can safely drink up to two alcoholic drinks a day and women up to a drink a day. A drink is defined as 12 ounces of beer, four ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof spirits.Apr 12, 2018
More than 5 drinks a week could shorten lives by years, study findswww.nbcnews.com › health › health-news › more-5-drinks-week-could-...
IMHO that is drinking quite a bit. I don’t know if it is “horrible” but I believe it will have an effect on your health.
Sounds bad. Could easily ruin your liver. I have more than one friend who died young from alcoholism. 42, 46, 51. Two of them were liver problems and then in the end kidney failure. The other one OD’d combination alcohol and pills.
Well yea…obviously….
But everyone under 25 has done that 5x over or at least in some point in their life. College is seen as a time to party more than study for some.
I don’t drink as much now, but doesn’t mostly everyone “get plastered” at certain stages of their lives?
As long as you pace yourself and eat throughout the day you won’t black out or anything.
Yes. And if the person doing this is not an alcoholic now, he or she probably will be if this behavior continues.
Bad for your liver, bad for your weight, and alcoholics have very increased rates of cancer and other chronic health issues.
I say this as a person that considers six a night a break from drinking.
If we actually ate well here I would consider it a concern. But when you gobble down pizza rolls and fried butter I would put beer pretty low on the list of killers.
Beer is calories.. And it you drink a few you might be less likely to gobble fried tater tots. Obesity is going to get you closer to Jesus first.
@johnpowell: I don’t think that anybody is saying obesity is better for you. It’s not a question of what’s the lesser evil, obesity or 6 drinks per day. The fact is that heavy drinking does lead to a multitude of health problems, including higher rates of chronic and deadly illness.
Alcohol is quite high density calories (just think how easy it is set fire to spirits).
Before the advent of fast food, junk food and high fructose corn syrup over consumption of beer was probably the leading cause of a obesity.
