What is your favorite TV dinner?

Asked by Dutchess_lll (8753points) August 17th, 2020

Mine is carved turkey breast with mashed taters and gravy, peas with a pearl onion in it and some cranberry dessert thing. That is the only time I eat anything cranberry because I don’t like cranberries!
Swanson’s makes one and so does Hungry Man. Have a Hungry Man sittin’ in the freezer, begging to be cooked! But I shall wait till 3.
shoot. I just checked. It doesn’t have peas. :(

I don’t really eat them because of the sodium content, but if I do it’s a Marie Calendar pot pie on a winters night. My husband likes the salisbury steak.

I need the sodium so it’s all good.
I eat the cheapo pot pie. And I just eat the crust. LOL!

@Dutchess_lll Really, I’ve never heard of someone needing sodium! Interesting. My doc said nothing over 5% sodium per serving which is almost everything in the freezer aisle, including most frozen pizza’s.

Banquets (I think) are what I grew up on, my grandmother liked them on a rare occasion.

Yep. I wound up in the hospital a couple of years ago due to an extremely low sodium count. That can kill you! It’s supposed to be at 132 or so. Mine was 119. I had a seizure.

@Dutchess_lll Wow, scary. But thanks, learned a new word.

Signs and symptoms of hyponatremia can include altered personality, lethargy and confusion. Severe hyponatremia can cause seizures, coma and even death.

I used to love Hungry Man Turkey but they cut down on the turkey and probably everything else in them. So now I’m not sure. Marie Calendar (sp?) has spaghetti and meat sauce that’s acceptable.

Dutchess_lll's avatar

I’ll keep that in mind. Sometimes I just get a huge craving for spagetti.

@Dutchess_lll I make Bachelor’s spaghetti when I’m alone sometimes, just butter and parm on the noodles, with pepper. It’s so good, but my husband isn’t a fan.

I don’t eat TV dinners too often but they’re good to have in the freezer (I feel) because there are times I don’t feel like cooking, and with that, 45 minutes in the oven and you have a complete dinner. I like the turkey ones, too. I also like Marie Callendar’s pot pies. Sometimes they have them on sale at Costco and it comes to like $1 each, which is so cheap.

Salisbury steak with gravy and mashed potatoes and veggies. I like the Hungry Man one that doesn’t come with a dessert. I stir the mashed potatoes into the gravy.

carved turkey breast with mashed taters and gravy, peas with a pearl onion in it and some cranberry dessert thing

That is ideal for me, too. But I don’t eat them any more because of the sodium and fat. I really like the enchiladas, too.

@Call_Me The mexican is my go to. Chicken enxhilafas or taquitos.

I need the sodium….and I add butter to my taters and peas.
