What are the most popular quotes from presidents speeches?
Inspired from This question
JFK’s quote of “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” was cited in the question I linked, and is said a lot.
FDR said “let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance” or More commonly just “The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself”
What other quotes are often quoted that come from presidents speeches?
.
I’m asking for quotes that are well-known and often quoted in real life.

“A man is not finished when he’s defeated; he’s finished when he quits.” -Richard Nixon
“Let’s make America great again” was first used in Ronald Reagan’s 1980 presidential campaign.
Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.
Calvin Coolidge

This is kind of an odd one, but it’s actually the unpublished draft of a 1940 speech from FDR that he never delivered. It’s remarkably prescient and worth reading the full speech. Here’s an excerpt:
“In the century in which we live, the Democratic Party has received the support of the electorate only when the party, with absolute clarity, has been the champion of progressive and liberal policies and principles of government.”
“The party has failed consistently when through political trading and chicanery it has fallen into the control of those interests, personal and financial, which think in terms of dollars instead of in terms of human values.”
@stanleybmanly Your #2 was not said by a president but by PT Barnum
I am very surprised no one has added:
“We have nothing to fear but fear itself.” – FDR
“Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.” – JFK
“I do not like broccoli. And I haven’t liked it since I was a little kid and my mother made me eat it. And I’m President of the United States and I’m not going to eat any more broccoli.”
George H. W. Bush
Referring to the people, “i am your voice”. Good one. We are all one people under one God. Even better.
@SergeantQueen Thanks. tee hee. I got so excited about the title question. I didn’t read the details.
@Hawaii Jake There is some controversy over my second quote, though it is attributed to Lincoln for a speech prior to his Presidency in 1856. It is thought that Barnum took the quote and inserted 2 extra “of”s. I made a mistake in my transcription. It should read…some people all of the time.
“Union is strength.“and“nothing is difficult in the world, nothing is impossible as strong willing heart.”
I found this on JFK that I think applies to today’s America.
“Let us resolve to be masters, not the victims, of our history, controlling our own destiny without giving way to blind suspicions and emotions.”
