Did Biden and Harris hug each other during the convention last night?

A conservative neighbor posted on FB a photo of Biden and Harris hugging during what appeared to be the DNC. There were lots of people right behind them. The post from the neighbor read “Why are we being forced to wear masks if they’re not?”
I am not commenting but I am curious if Biden and Harris actually hugged, and right next to a bunch of convention goers (audience). Nobody had masks on.

There are no convention goers so I would say that is totally false or rather an old picture.
@janbb: I just looked at a photo of her acceptance speech and I saw her jacket was a different one than in the photo the neighbor posted. I looked more carefully at the sign on the podium in the neighbor’s photo and I see it says “Michigan.” Still, odd that they’re hugging without masks on, right in front of the other convention goers who are sitting so near. I can’t defend it.
Without a date you don’t know what is going on, I would just say that photo is not from last night since she was wearing something different and there were no convention goers. And it says “Michigan.” But it may not be worth wasting your breath.
All the convention speeches are from remote locations. Actually, I think there were 25 journalists, masked and socially distanced let in to the site from which Harris spoke.
It was in March 2020 before Trump unleashed the COVID-19 on the US>
Old picture Maybe? ?
@jca2 Was that the “hug”, it was March 9, 2020 !
Yes, @Tropical_Willie. I am looking for a photo of the meme so I can show you. It’s divided into three parts, and it says “not a mask in sight.” My neighbor shared it from a person who is probably not a real person, it’s probably a Russian fake site.
Since you now have proof, I would go back to them.
I have been! I couldn’t resist. She hasn’t commented yet. I put one comment where I wrote that this is why I research memes before I post them, because they’re often inaccurate. I posted the article from @Tropical_Willie. Then I posted again (not as a comment to a comment so everyone can see it) and I put another link and I wrote “fake news.”
The coffee is kicking in. haha
Good grief! If that is all they can come up with to defame Biden and Harris, I think it’s funny!
@chyna But wait! Trump calls her a nasty woman. Doesn’t that make you worried?
^ Yes. The discourse in politics is extremely worrying.
So many lies in social media. People need to wake up and question everything.
The most sinister thing about the sentence, ”“Why are we being forced to wear masks if they’re not?” Is those people believe Democrats are trying to mask up the population as a sinister communist plot to destroy capitalism, traffic children, and help bring Sharia law—crazy Q garbage.
I do think there was a risk when everyone criticized the president for not wearing a mask. The president consistently said the people around him are tested, and that they distance, and usually the person speaking does not wear a mask in any group of politicians. The liberal media should stick to criticizing the president for telling his groupies to not wear a mask at the rallies, and for not promoting mask wearing long long ago. If people are together all of the time, then they might decide after the initial week to not distance from each other or use a mask, just like we don’t distance from family that we live with. A limited number of people.
People seem unable to sift through the information out there it is stunning how people can’t sort through what is low risk and what is high risk.
@janbb “Doesn’t that make you worried?”
What should make you worried is that Biden’s lead is shrinking very quickly. That the DNC basically told progressives to go fuck themselves again this year (but please vote Blue). That Biden is running basically an identical playbook as 2016 Clinton did, with nearly identical policies, and identical donors. Biden is focusing on why Trump is bad and remains vapid on policy that will improve life for Americans—exactly like Clinton. His VP choice was terrible and there is a high probability that he’s going to look senile in a debate. At this point, anything can happen, and Trump could win again.
I think you probably should be worried. Any other candidate would be completely dominating Trump right now.
@gorillapaws Oh never fear, I’m not only worrying, I’m doing my damndest to get out the vote to defeat Trump. As I’ve said elsewhere,Biden wasn’t my first choice candidate and I understand they are each corporate parties but this election is not really a choice about the lesser of two evils. Who we choose will make a real difference in the lives of marginalized people so I’m not planning to stand on the sidelines and throw bricks. And neither is Sanders apparently.
Remember, @janbb, it’s an effective strategy for hard-righters to pose as progressives and constantly undermine with their “chicken as shit-with-glass” rhetoric. It draws the votes away from the candidates that their leaders oppose.
@canidmajor “it’s an effective strategy for hard-righters to pose as progressives…”
I posted this in May of 2008:
”...Personally, I’d like to think pursuing cleaner energy, making things more efficient, and reducing our dependancy on foreign oil would all make a lot more sense, as well as having many positive ancillary benefits…”
So either I’ve been posing as a progressive for over a decade, knowing that Trump would need my help to throw shade at Biden in 2020, or I used a time machine to pepper the Fluther timeline with posts over the years to legitimize myself as a progressive, or perhaps I’m sick of this country being run by Republicans and I have nothing but contempt and rage for the Party that is enabling those victories to happen through their unmatched incompetence, ineptitude and outright corruption. I can’t abide people gaslighting and cheering on one of the most corrupt Democratic politicians in modern US history simply because “he’s not Trump.” I fear that repeating this pattern will lead to something much worse on the right than Trump.
As pointed out above, nope. This is what they did. They were in Joe’s home state of Delaware as the DNC declined to hold a convention in Milwa, ukee due to the virus. Joe is not so vain as to be ashamed to be seen in public wearing a mask. Joe’s supporters showed up in their cars and were all 6 feet apart and dancing on the hood of their own vehicle. Others who showed up for the fireworks display remained in their vehicles and enjoyed the fw display. There was no physical convention as the DNC chose to make it a virtual affair
