Does your pet go to you over your spouse or vise versa for certain things?

Asked by Pandora (32436points) August 21st, 2020

My husband always comments that the dog favors me for laying down with when I’m watching TV. I told him it’s because he does it wrong. A few minutes ago she kept going under the blanket with him and come out and try again and he was getting annoyed with her. She usually lays between his legs but doesn’t stay long. I told him its because he’s doing it wrong. He has to lay on his side and bend his knees so she covered on the sides between his legs and the couch.

He didn’t believe me but he did it an in seconds she happily went under the blanket and curled up behind him. He just laughed and said I spoiled her.
So what preferences does your pet have?

Mine always come to me for everything. My husband gets a welcome home greeting and occasionally they ask for his affection, but food or potty time is all me. When I head to bed at night, my male is always with me, but my female stays up with dad.

My boy is obsessed with blankets, but yes, you do have to do it right or he will spin for three full minutes. haha!

I only babysit a dog for my DIL. The dog loves me, and follows me everywhere including the bathroom, insists on being in bed with me – UNLESS she comes in, when, suddenly I DON’T Exist.

One dog favors my wife, the other favors me. They both love my daughter.

It’s just me and the dog, so I have to be the favorite. But sometimes when I try to hug or kiss her, she pulls away. It hurts my feelings.

Are there times when she approaches you for affection, but you’re too busy or distracted to respond?

I have a very affectionate cat, but there are times when she’d rather be by herself, and there are times (especially during a heatwave) when I don’t want a lap full of hot, tickle-inducing fur in my lap and face.

It depends on the time of day. He is very regimented. I have to get up with him in the morning and feed him and walk him. He won’t accept that duty from my wife or kids….it has to be me. Later in the day he tends to cling to my wife. When it is bed time, he does his best to herd both my wife and I into the bedroom so he can go to bed.
