How much would it cost to buy your own skyscraper?
In any city. To own a tower and play king/wizard/Landlord ect.

That depends. Would you be happy with a cheap, common, low-rent skyscraper in a trashy part of Anytown? Or does it have to be a stylish, first-class, custom-made skyscraper with all the trimmings in a fashionable neighborhood of one of your better cities?
@Jeruba I would be glad if it did not have bed bugs and had hot water. In Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta. The news said that there is a 25% vacancy rate in skyscrapers in Alberta. If I win the lotto I mightconsider purchasing one.
Several are currently for sale in Dallas for under $200 million.. Some are fixer-uppers which require several more million in repairs.
@YARNLADY Thanks. I am looking for $50 million or less in Alberta.
Bedbugs: no problem. Just don’t have beds. As for hot water, you could fill a cauldron on a hotplate on the top level and run it down the drainpipes.
Fixer-uppers sound like a great idea. Coat of paint should do it. I expect $50 million would go further in Calgary than in Dallas.
Trump Tower in NYC cost about $200M to build. But your costs may vary depending on location, cost of land and labor, etc.
A real estate agent in Calgary would probably have a better grasp of real estate prices (including skycrapers) in Calgary than we would.
There must be a huge variety of answers depending on the the LOCATION and size and condition and age of the building, what it was built for originally (how fancy), and why are the owners selling it now.
… and what do you consider a skyscraper.
In NYC there are hundreds of buildings that would be the biggest building in town in most cities, but here they are mundane among the bigger ones.
