Is Kyle Rittenhouse a hero or a murderer (or neither)? Why?

Asked by Demosthenes (15328points) August 29th, 2020 from iPhone

The 17-year-old kid who shot and killed two protesters in Kenosha. The right is hailing him as a hero, the left considers him a murderer.

Was he doing a good or smart thing by showing up to a protest armed? Was he there hoping to kill someone or was he there to protect local businesses? Did he kill those two in self-defense or was he the aggressor?

This is being debated all over the internet right now so let’s discuss it here.

Let’s start with these facts:

He was illegally carrying a weapon (State law requires anyone carrying a weapon be 18 years old. He is 17.)

He was randomly shooting protesters. He did not focus on lawbreakers.

He crossed a state line with a weapon, with intentions of using it.

He’s a wannabe thug. Prison is where he belongs.
I also don’t think it should be for life. Teenagers are brain damaged. I’ll be happy with 20 years.

What type of twisted thinking does it take to think this guy is a hero?

Murderer. End of story. Seriously, how can you expose yourself to anyone who attempts to justify this?

On one hand, you have people like Tucker Carlson and Ann Coulter saying Rittenhouse was “maintaining order” and that he should be president.

On the other, you have people who admit Rittenhouse did something idiotic by bringing a rifle to a protest and that he brought this on himself, but that he may have fired those shots in self-defense after being attacked by protesters. I dunno. To me he seems like someone who was hoping to have a reason to pull that trigger.

@Demosthenes and @NoDepositBonus, read @filmfann‘s post. There is nothing OK about this.

Capital murder – - life sentence for each murder; two life sentences

Mom is an enabler; so accessory before the fact, purchasing the gun and if she transported him Federal hate crime.

He went with a gun ! Not to defend his household.

Why would you even think there is a question about this?

Are they going to try him as an adult or as a juvenile?

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Someone with deep pockets is paying for his defense lawyers.

janbb's avatar

@Tropical_Willie I just read a gun rights group is contributing a lot of money.

He’ll be murdered in jail. His life expectancy just went from 75 to 21.

zenvelo's avatar

@elbanditoroso He will be protected in prison by the Aryan Brotherhood.

Just a self-proclaimed defender of justice. Another nut job who doesn’t know anything about proper gunplay.

He’s a murderer.

Kyle throwing punches at two girls fighting in his neighborhood. That place doesn’t even look like a bad area.

More suburban little angels just totally not doing anything wrong. He’ll make a good cop one day….
