my shiba inu does shed quite a bit. Shiba inus do not grow to be very big. But I think that a shiba inu is a great dog.
I like shiba inus a lot. This is a Japanese breed. They are not large (smaller than 25 pounds). They are not necessarily the right breed for everyone. They are independent and need to be carefully socialized or they can have their normal reserve to strangers turn into protectiveness and standoffishness or they can be too shy. Aggression to other dogs has to be trained out of them.
They are very beautiful, but have a thick coat with an undercoat that means they shed quite a bit.
Based on my experience in the veterinary field, I don’t like any of the Japanese breeds (including the shiba inu). They’re tend to be neurotic, aggressive, and just plain weird.
Great dogs. They certainly have a samurai personality. Very calm and collected. They bond strongly with their owners and enjoy independence. Not the best for kids, which are loud and pull at dogs ears.
Here’s a photo of the one I am referring to.
I also like the Japanese breeds including the noble Akita.
