Why does Yoda say that Anakin and Luke Skywalkers are both too old for training?

Yoda is like 5 million years old, and close to death, and he just wants an excuse to not deal with this shit.
Plus, Luke was a skywalker, and he did not want to create another darth vader.

@ragingloli I thought that Yoda was 800 years old. For the line to Luke Star Wars Yoda is 800 years old “when 800 years you reach look as good your not”

Because getting them and indoctrinating them before they can think for themselves is the Jedi way.

Like dogs and children, it helps to get them young and their heads screwed on straight for the long years of training, otherwise they are too set in their ways for the training to really be effective.
