What does it mean to be humble?

Well a simple question with no other context or details isn’t much of a conversation starter. Perhaps begin with describing what humble means to you.

To be humble is to not feel that other people owe you too much, or sometimes anything at all.

Being humble is being modest, but still having the emotional intelligence to receive compliments well

That was a tip, not a criticism. Don’t take things so personally.

One guideline is that humility means a right understanding of your position in relation to others.

It doesn’t mean self-abasement or self-effacement. Basically it means seeing yourself honestly.

I am really incredibly humble. I’m probably the most humble guy in the world, if not in all of history. If they build a statue of humbleness, they’d want me to pose for it, but I wouldn’t cause I am so humble.

Humble means not to brag, and not to constantly talk about “I, I, I.”

I think Obama was supremely confident AND humble.

I am too humble to mention how humble I am.

My dad used to sing a song that went, “Lord, it’s hard to be humble, when you’re perfect in every way. I can’t to look in the mirror, cause I get better looking each day!”
