Ignore him completely.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

@Dutchess_III That’s easy for anyone with half a brain, but his flippin base would take his word over an expert any day of the week.

jca2's avatar

I don’t think he can be suppressed. Even if the scientists refute what he says, he still has people who love love LOVE him. Let’s face it, if he can talk about grabbing women by the pussy and all that crazy crap that comes out of his mouth, and they still love him, nothing will deter them.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

@jca2 except the “easy marks” are only 25 % of the voting population ! The other 75 % will get him out.

^^^LETS FREAKING HOPE SO!!!!^^^^

elbanditoroso's avatar

The day that he was elected – go back to my questions from 4 years ago – I wrote something like:

“Should we assume that everything Trump says is a lie and automatically believe the opposite of what he says?”

Believe the opposite of everything Trump says

You can believe whomever you want.

I realize that many of you want your beliefs written into law and enforced on others through some kind of manditory education or re-education—but just wait until YOU find yourself thinking outside the box and something false becomes the legal government-mandated opinion.

elbanditoroso's avatar

Thank you, @Yellowdog for allowing me freedom of thought. Some of your co-religionists and your co-partyists don’t.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Pst PST @elbanditoroso I don’t believe Trump will allow you to think !

Dutchess_III's avatar

“Beliefs written into law”? WTF are you talking about @Yellowdog?

O wait. I know. You’re taking the liberal argument about religious people wanting their stand on abortion or gay marriage, prayers in school, etc, written into law, and you’re making a lame attempt to turn it back on us. And that is what I will continue to think until you can clarify what you meant.

LadyMarissa's avatar

I learned 4 years ago, to STOP paying attention to anything he says & I strongly suggest that you learn to do the same!!!

elbanditoroso's avatar

@LadyMarissa you’re right. I stumbled into responding, thinking he had changed.

It’s really not just Trump though.

For example, I sent a bbc.com article to our local doc here today to review, as they were saying there’s a growing movement in the medical community that herd immunity is back on the recommended list. Our fluther expert says that’s incorrect.

https://www.bbc.com/news/health-54442386

Dutchess_III's avatar

(Who is our fluther expert? If you’re talking about Rarebear, he has only said there isn’t enough data to know yet.)

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Dutchess_III The point is that that is a pretty mainstream news outlet for a lot of people. Possibly putting out disinformation that would lead to unnecessary deaths. :)

Dutchess_III's avatar

The BBC link you posted said nothing about herd immunity.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Dutchess_III Dude…they didn’t use ‘herd immunity’ in the first reference to it, here “As immunity builds in the population, the risk of infection to all – including the vulnerable – falls, they say.

And this would be a much more “compassionate” approach.”
...................
University of Reading cellular biology expert Dr Simon Clarke, meanwhile, says whether herd immunity is even achievable remains unclear.

“Natural, lasting, protective immunity to the disease would be needed,” he says.

“And we don’t know how effective or long-lasting people’s post-infection immunity will be.”

Dutchess_III's avatar

If you’re quoting from the BBC article, I find no mention of Dr Simon Clarke. I’m wondering why you even bothered to post it.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Herd immunity requires 60 percent of the population to have had the disease !

330,000,000 (US population) times 0.60 is about 198,000,000 and death rate after getting COVID-19 is between 4 percent and 5 percent so . . . about 8 MILLION people have to die before we approach “herd immunity”.

And that is if once you have COVID-19 you are immune, some studies say antibodies after having it drop at 3 months.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Dutchess_III Simon is mentioned at the bottom. You’re going to drive me drink woman.

Besides that you are missing the entire point, which is that Trump is not the only person putting out disinformation on a large scale.

Yellowdog's avatar

@Dutchess_III I was referring to the beliefs of the OP as written in the question, not generalities.

stanleybmanly's avatar

@Yellowdog So you disagree with the premise that the fool is the leading source for disinformation and bad advice regarding the virus? Would it be fair to list him as the most influential source of erroneous quackery concerning this disease? I am not advocating that the fool be restricted from spouting whatever nonsense suits his fancy. My question is about possible antidotes to the harm inflicted on the gullible unwashed who comprise his followers and guarantee us the needless extension of the current nightmare.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

The stupid and gullible follow the delusional !

Is that your point @stanleybmanly

stanleybmanly's avatar

Yes indeedy!

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Well there ya go “after three days” he rose from Walter Reed ! !

I missed the last supper part . . . . !

Yellowdog's avatar

Well, for starters, there has to be disinformation, After that, you expose it, On Fluther, for instance. But whatever forums you have.

Just be sure you are counteracting an actual quote or statement. Don’t just say “Trump is this or that” or alter something One mistake a lot of democrats and Trump-haters make is they misrepresent, lie, or speak in general terms,. If Trump is what you say, show us.

stanleybmanly's avatar

Show us? There is no showing you as long as you refuse to acknowledge the truth and persist in denying the reality before you. For the life of me, I cannot understand how you manage to navigate your existence with so distorted a version of reality.

LogicHead's avatar

“we”? I smell a tyrant in the making.

I am already responding as I think fit , thank you very much

jca2's avatar

@Yellowdog: “I realize that many of you want your beliefs written into law and enforced on others through some kind of manditory education or re-education.”

Wait, what? Are you paranoid? Or do you really believe that?

Dutchess_III's avatar

@LogicHead….who are you talking to?

@jca2 He’s just doing what the right does. They take our arguments against them and try to turn it back on us, but they fail, every time.

janbb's avatar

We vote him out, that’s how.

Yellowdog's avatar

The problem is, you CAN’T vote him out.

You don’t have the numbers.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Uh the polls say other wise.
I will ask this respectively @Yellowdog how are YOU going to take it if your hero actually loses the election?

jca2's avatar

@Yellowdog: Nobody knows until after Election Day.

janbb's avatar

@jca2 And actually this year it may be after Election Day until all the ballots are counted.

jca2's avatar

@janbb: Yes, that’s why I wrote “after” in my comment.

janbb's avatar

^^ Right.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@SQUEEKY2 The polls were wrong in 2016, why would you believe them now?

Both sides have to be careful in assuming a win, especially after such a long, negative 3.5 years.

Dutchess_III's avatar

They weren’t wrong in 2016, and Hillary did win the popular vote.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Dutchess_III Too bad for her it doesn’t work that way in America.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I wish they’d just do a way with the Electoral College.

stanleybmanly's avatar

Even with the college, the idea of Trump as President was too ridiculous to be believed. So the question stands: what has the fool done (if anything) in 4 years to alter that fact?

Dutchess_III's avatar

Been himself.
