Why doesn't caffeine help me anymore?

Asked by Nomore_lockout (7612points) October 11th, 2020

I have a part time job working for a friend of mine in his security business. Work nights and although I drink coffee by the gallon I still space out from time to time. What gives?

You’ve become acclimated. The same dilemma faced by heroin addicts.

How about trying tea? For some time coffee didn’t affect my sleep. And I actually thought it was a good thing ;) because I need my sleep. I’m no longer resistant to caffeine now.

Some people have a great tolerance to caffeine. I know a women who can drink a Starbucks large Coffee Grande late at night and sleep like a baby.

I’m very sensitive to caffeine. Just a sip of coffee gives me the jitters.
