I was always partial to “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds”. What say you?

There is no way I could answer this question. Probably one of my favorites is A Day in the Life. It was written by John Lennon after reading a newspaper one day.

My partner, a huge Beatles fan, who grew up near Liverpool, would say, Strawberry Fields Forever. As a side note, he also says that the Beatles strength was in the fact that they collaborated with each other and took turns in song-writing. There wasn’t one member that stood out like in so many other bands.

I think the song I like best is called “If I Fell.”

Wow that’s impossible to answer, so I’ll go with my top 10:

Something
She’s Leaving Home
Carry That Weight
Blackbird
Eleanor Rigby
Yesterday
Here Comes the Sun
In My Life
Fixing a Hole
I’m So Tired

@rockfan I forgot about Eleanor Rigby I like that one too. As well as some of their earlier stuff like “I wanna hold your hand” and Michelle. I had a girlfriend in jr. high who literally dragged me out on the dance floor at our school dance and made me dance with her to Michelle. Then that weekend we were hanging at her house when her folks weren’t home and she asked me to sing it to her lol. But I can’t sing and I don’t speak French so that was a no go.

It’s funny, I’m 29, and since my first introduction to The Beatles was Sgt. Pepper, Revolver, Abbey Road and The White Album, it took me a while to warm up to their earlier, more conventional stuff. But I’ve definitely grown to appreciate it.

Absolutely “In My Life” is my favorite. One of my top favorite songs of all time, not just Beatles songs.

There’s no such thing as a greatest Beatles song.

Every Friday our Beatlemaniacs group plays here and I often request I Saw Her Standing There.

I also really like Norwegian Wood and While My Guitar Gently Weeps, I could easily name ten.

Nomore_lockout's avatar

Good choices, I forgot about Norwegian Wood too. It is also one of my favorites.

Yellow Submarine.

“A Day in the Life”

The song is really two songs spliced together, one written by John Lennon and the other by Paul McCartney. Each man sings the lead during his own portion. The arrangement ended up being seamless, really a suite rather than a song, and it has a haunting mood.
