No, but since this Pandemic I have gotten into stocking up my fridge ( freezer section) in case of shortages or in my case winter storms prevent me from going downtown for groceries.
I portion out the meat that I purchase into single portions in freezer zip lock bags and use as I need them.
( example : purchase 8 pork chops in a package and separate into single portions in zip lock bags and freeze them ).

Hungry: only for another couple of minutes. I’m about to go toast an English muffin.

Rationing food: no, but a little bit of compulsive stockpiling, yes.

Emulating the squirrels is probably a good plan under these conditions, especially if you’re in a northerly climate. We in No. Cal. are still worrying about heat-caused power outages, so not a good time to be relying on freezers.

However, I have a lot of oatmeal, flour, rice, and corn meal stowed in the pantry closet. As long as we have water and a few other things, we’ll manage.

All those cans of evaporated milk, though: I think I’m going to have to make a stealth run to a donation box.

No. I’m fortunate that I am not experiencing food insecurity.

I’m also currently in the “eating” phase of my experiment with intermittent fasting (16:8). I get to eat until 8:00pm, and then I’ll fast until tomorrow at 12:00pm.

@hmmmmmm, what’s the object of your experiment, and is it working?

^ I just started it on Tuesday night. :) I’m feeling very unhealthy and have gained some weight. I know people who have had luck with intermittent fasting, so I thought I’d give it a try.

How about coming back and giving us a report in a few weeks? Maybe in a new thread on how self-improvement programs have worked for you, or something. I keep hearing good words about intermittent fasting, but I haven’t tried it myself. I noticed you said luck, not success.

No. But I had my meal for the day a couple of hours ago.

I just finished dinner, but my eating schedule is pretty much determined by when I am hungry.

Just ate a few nuts.

I am not rationing, but I really should be eating less. I lost ten pounds during covid and plateaued. I really need to lose ten more, and I would feel more normal again.

I have kept my pantry a little fuller than usual, nothing extreme. It’s not snack food, it’s what I would call staples. We are just finishing hurricane season here so I will pack my freezer up more again. During the summer I usually don’t go more than ¾ full.

Whenever I feel hungry, I go look at pictures of food at 1 AM and end up being really satisfied with this alone. I’m not sure if this is a great way to build up discipline or a great way to build up misery.

We are always hungry for something.

Now. Had a bowl of Life cereal and a taco from Taco Bell. I’m good.
