Have you seen the show, on Netflix, Jerry Seinfeld's "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee?" and if so, what is your opinion of it?

I just discovered this show a few weeks ago. Each episode is less than 20 minutes (and those that are longer are two parts). On each episode, Jerry Seinfeld has a different classic car that he discusses, talks about the features of the car, how many were made (limited editions), what it’s like driving the car, etc. The camera pans over the car, shows the engine and the special features, shows Jerry driving the car. Then he picks up a comedian, either at their home or wherever, and they go out for coffee and maybe something else like a boat ride. The conversation is casual, about work, the area, etc. It’s filmed primarily in NY metro area and LA. Sometimes in other areas like MA.

I was never a big Jerry Seinfeld fan. I enjoyed his show but was not a devotee. However, this show “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” to me, is a good one, appealing to many.

Some of the cars belong to Jerry, some are borrowed. All of the cars are in pristine condition. Lots of Porsches.

I’ve seen a few episodes. It is decidedly unfunny for a show about comedians. It also seems extremely awkward because Seinfeld is awkward and not an affable person. It ends up being a short collection of many short awkward clips of dull rich people, along with music, cars, and closeups of coffee to fill the time.

Lost interest very quickly.

I think the goal is to show the guest in their regular life, chatting about regular things, including work, how they try to come up with bits, what it was like on a show, etc. I am betting that in real life, Jerry is neurotic and awkward. He probably observes a lot of things which come out in his comedy.

I enjoy watching the scenery, in addition to the cars. The town, the coffee shop. It’s kind of like lifestyles of the rich and famous.

It’s like a video version of a short podcast. Amusing enough, but not compelling enough to get excited about the next episode dropping.

I watch it if I stumble across it, but I don’t go looking for it. i usually watch when someone links to it on YouTube.

If you can, find the Obama episode Season 7 Episode 1. It is so good.
Here is a youtube version. S7E1

For a while I found the episodes fascinating. Everything from slice of life vignettes through all too frequent lessons on malfunctioning cars (and malfunctioning stars). The Obama episode was restricted to the White House grounds and an XKE. It makes you wonder what a Trump episode might reveal.
