Have you ever been forced to suck on a bar of soap, or swallow liquid soap from swearing?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24945points) October 31st, 2020

How common is this? In grade two I was forced to swallow a mouthful of dish soap from swearing in class. None of the teachers were punished.

Sorry this happened to you. Those teachers should have been prosecuted for assault.

My mother washed my mouth out with a bar of ivory soap when I was 6 or 7 for lying.

I seem to recall maybe one time my parents made me wash my mouth out with soap for swearing. I’m not completely certain this happened, though. I didn’t really swear as a kid. I wasn’t even comfortable swearing in front of my siblings even when I knew my parents wouldn’t hear it.

Now my parents and I say whatever we want around each other (I actually think I’ve been a bad influence on my mom in this regard lol). Did a complete 180. :P

Thankfully, no. But I didn’t swear.

The girl across the street was forced by her father to eat a cigarette after being caught smoking one of her aunt’s. He was evil, but that is another story.

No. One of the many reasons I still have a good relationship with my parents and teachers, respect them, etc.

I shudder to think how much ill will, real curses and bad karma are created by such practices.

Oh yes, a number of times. Only once for swearing I think; the other times were for saying ‘shut up’ or calling my brother a name, maybe lying. Stupid, ineffective punishment.

I do recall the taste of soap while having my mouth washed with it. Not sure if I had sworn or just “talked back”. Opened y mouth when it should have been shut.

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

@si3tech My father kept accusing me of talking back. I asked him what talking back was and he never answered me.

No. My mom used to threaten to do it but never carried through.

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

@Nomore_lockout I was threatened with being a manager of a McDonalds for life. Now that seems sweet.

No, never. I was pretty good and my mother was pretty lenient.

No. But my much older siblings did.

I thought that practice is no longer a thing in the 21st century?

Plenty of parents are still assholes.

No; never had this happen . Same as spankings. I’m so sorry to anyone who was abused. );
