Have you ever seen someone else wearing your clothes? How did it feel?

Asked by Jeruba (56106points) November 2nd, 2020

Not an item that’s just like yours, but one that actually is or was yours: borrowed, let’s say, or cast off.

Your friend gets soaked in the rain on the way to your house, and you lend her a blouse while you dry hers; or someone borrows an outfit for an event you’re also attending; or you give away your used maternity clothes.

Is it weird to see someone else wearing clothes that belong or recently belonged to you?

Sisters and roommates and best friends who share wardrobes may think nothing of it; but if that’s not your custom, does it feel strange?

Ok I used to be very slender. I’m not fat now but back the I was a size 8 (5’8”.)
I bought a cotton skirt at a Goodwill that you had to be skinny to pull off. It was pretty voluminous .
Wore it to work (substitute teaching.)
One of the teachers said “I used to have a skirt exactly like that but it made me look like a whale so I gave it to Goodwill!”
Me, “Um…...”

Not really. Maybe I’m used to it from growing up with a twin (not identical and today he is taller and bigger than me even though as kids we were much the same size). Though I knew that my best friend and I had reached a new level of friendship when he borrowed a pair of my underwear. :P

Yes. I had a roommate basically steal one of my shirts. We both had the same shirt by coincidence, and hers got stretched and ruined and so she switched them. I guess she was hoping I wouldn’t notice.

When I confronted, she was standing in front of me with my top on, she admitted it, and gave me back my top, but she had stretched it.

I didn’t live with her very long.

For some odd reason 3 ex girlfriends in ancient times had a thing for wearing my boxers. Two of them made a habit of confiscating pairs and not bringing them back. The third girl thought I was psychotic about my insistence that she return my boxers.

Boxers are SO much more comfortable than the tight underwear women are “supposed” to wear, and look sexy doing it.
Sigh.
