What is a swing state?

It’s a place where the vote is so close, the outcome is decided by people like this: The Undecided .

There are traditional swing states, like Florida.

This year, Georgia and Texas are sort of moving into that category as they are no longer dependably red.

A state which could go either one way or the other.

Like everyone above said, states that have close votes for president. It’s where the candidates spend a lot of time campaigning and where people who live there feel their vote really counts.

They could go either way, too close to rely on.
They are also called Purple and Battleground states.

California used to be a swing state. We had several Republican Governors, and the vote could go either way for presidential elections.
Recently, we have become a solid Blue state, to the point that the news media didn’t wait for a single vote to be counted before declaring the result for Biden.
Florida is a swing state. No one is sure before election day how they will go.

Texas is getting that way, and fast. I guess we’d call it a purple state now. By the way, I just heard that Trump has finnally conceded. At Karate class with grand son so haven’t had time to check the veracity. Hope it’s true.
