Arnold Schwarzenegger, because MUSCLES.
Bogart, because… he was Bogart.
Oh so many, how to choose!
Cary Grant because of his suaveness and twinkle.
Katharine Hepburn because of her hautere and class with the warmth underneath.
Honorable mentions:
Joel MaCrae because he is adorable.
Jimmy Stewart for his gosh darn Americaness.
And Claudette Colbert and William Powell for Nick and Nora. (Bark, says Asta – don’t forget me!)
Henry Fonda. I loved him in On Golden Pond.
I also like Jimmy Stewart. I loved him in Harvey.
John Wayne. And pre John Wayne, Gary Cooper. Lives of a Bengal Lancer, High Noon, the Hanging Tree. Great movies. Don’t make ‘em like that any more. But the Duke made to many great movies to list here. Not all westerns either. Donavan’s Reef, Hatari!, The Hell Fighters, to name a few. And who could forget True Grit? Rio Bravo anyone?
Richard Greene as robin hood
Because he has a warm welcoming personality.
I dunno. I don’t really go for Code-era Hollywood much.
Tom Hanks as well. Not Golden Age of course, but in my view the most versatile actor on the scene today. Who else could portray people as diverse as Mr. Rogers and Walt Disney?
He really is something isn’t he!
I think the guy is a fantastic actor! And hes not limited to one type of persona, like my boy Duke was (forgive me John). A Pilgrim just,... likes what he likes, I reckon!
Bogart and Cary Grant for actor.
Myrna Loy for actress.
Laurence Olivier, for one. Fredric March. Leslie Howard. Marlon Brando. C. Aubrey Smith. Sometimes even Tyrone Power. And yeah, Bogart, for sure.
All men, I notice.
Ok, then, Ingrid Bergman.
Audrey Hepburn. Majel Roddenberry for my favorite actress.
Susan Hayward, Sophia Loren
@Jeruba Lucille Ball. She was funny.
@janbb
Especially love Joel McCrea in Sullivan’s Travels, such great comic timing
Joanne Fontaine
Laurence Olivier
Have to give at least honorable mention to Elizabeth Taylor. God she was pretty in Butterfield 8.
^^^ She was simply, naturally, drop dead gorgeous.
Meh… Sophia Loren had her beat hands down.
None of them hold a candle to Scarlett Johannson as Black Widow.
@mazingerz88
Loved them both in Hitchcock’s Rebecca. Their on screen chemistry was off the charts
@Dutchess_III
I’m on a quest to watch all the classics but haven’t watched any Audrey Hepburn movies yet, going to watch Sabrina pretty soon. Looking forward to it
If you’re doing Bogie, check out Across the Pacific and Maltese Falcon as well. Classic trench coat and fedora Bogie. And the above, mentioned by Dutchess_III
@rockfan Not sure why exactly but Rebecca is my favorite Hitchcock before Vertigo and North by Northwest.
@mazingerz88
Me too. While I really like Vertigo and North by Northwest, I think they’re slightly overrated
To watch Jimmy Stewart in films like Harvey and It’s A Wonderful Life would make you doubt his ability to helm a tough Western, but he did repeatedly, including Winchester 73, Shenandoah, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence.
