How many bees, and flowers, does it take to make one jar of honey?

It takes around 1152 bees to make a jar of honey (16 oz jar). Let’s see how I came up with this number. So we know that one bee produces 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey. So we need 12 bees to produce one teaspoon of honey.

One bee in its life time of 6 weeks makes 1/16 teaspoon of honey. So it would take about 96 bees 6 weeks to make one fluid ounce of honey. You can now figure out how many bees and how long you would need to fill up a any size jar. As for how many flowers it would take, it would depend on the type of plant and how much pollen it produces. Bees will visit hundreds of plants in their lifetime.
