What could I do to relieve neck pain causing my headaches?
I take Excedrin all the time for headaches. The cause is the back of my neck. The only other thing works is muscle relaxers. I am thinking about getting a cortisone shot.

A friend had that problem and acupuncture was the only thing that helped her. How about trying hot compresses on the back of your neck?
Oh ok that seem like a good idea.
It helps with my aching parts. Definitely worth a shot.
Roll a small towel and put it behind your neck when you lie on your back.
Make sure when you sleep your shoulders are not on the pillow.
Keep your neck supported as much as possible.
If you are able to take ibuprofen you might take that for a few days along with supporting your neck. Remember don’t lie down right after taking ibuprofen and take it with plenty of water and ideally with a little food, even a cracker.
Why are you sure the neck pain is causing your headache? Is it a new pain?
No I have had it forever. But I can tell it is my neck because it’s the neck part that hurts and shoots up. I could feel it when I massage my neck the relief but I am unable to massage my neck all day long. It is a muscle situation in the neck.

Ok, yeah, try the towel, it really helps usually. If you can sleep on your back with the towel it might help even more, but some people have trouble sleeping well on their back.
Ibuprofen specifically works on muscles, it’s more than just a pain reliever, but you can try just the towel a few days if you hate to take medicine.
I’m not a doctor.
@honeybun35 Just going to throw this out there, because it worked for me. Sleep with one small pillow. I had the same problem very often and they often turned into migraine’s until I figured it out.
Ok thank you . I will try to do that.
