Quick poll: Will Congress override Trump's defense bill veto?

Knowing how Trump hates to lose, I did not think he would veto the bill, which passed with veto-proof majorities. It would take 45 House members or 18 in the Senate to switch sides in order for Trump to be able to sustain the veto.

Congress has not overridden any of Trump’s vetoes so far. Could this be the first? Several Republicans, including House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy, who originally voted in favor of the bill, say they will not oppose Trump.

I will stick my neck out and say that the veto will be overridden. Trump’s has two main objections, which are rather pathetic. He is opposed to renaming Federal military bases named for Confederate leaders, and he wants to undo a measure that limits social media responsibility for things said on their sites. The base renaming is long overdue, and the social media measure, even if it had any merit, has no business being attached to a defense measure.

Votes on the measure are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday next week.
