I was up in the middle of the night, wrapping presents. There was a big storm here, lots of rain and wind. When I woke up this morning, around 8, there was no power but only for about an hour. I was going to make lasagna but my daughter said she just wants cocktail franks in a blanket appetizer-type things, so I’ll make that. It’s kind of not a whole lot different than any other day off, but that’s ok. I like not being obliged to go visiting or anything stressful.

A friend still has no power so I called another friend and asked him to go over and get her generator started. Her husband is out of the house recuperating from surgery so she was kind of stuck, and it sucked because it’s Christmas and she was saying she can’t cook. She told me she was grateful to me and for my friend helping her.

On a morning show today on TV, the host was saying it’s nice this year to not have any distractions and stress, and just be able to enjoy being home and focusing on family and whatever you want to do.

I wouldn’t call it “merry,” not sure how it could be, but it’s been a pleasant enough day. I’ve been watching some old movies on tv, reading by the fire, got myself a few things that I opened today, and noshing on cookies and such.

@jca2 Your daughter and I must be on the same wavelength. Last night, I had pigs in blankets, chips and dips and a beer as my supper while watching “The Bishop’s Wife” on TCM.

I read a post on our local neighborhood network today about women collecting warm blankets and coats for homeless people in Newark and connected with the poster for a pick up. Gathered up some blankets, a coat and some sleeping bags to donate.

I feel grateful for what I have in this hard time.

I’m having a wonderful time. Just me and the wife here in our bunker. I’ve torn the locomotive from the electric train down to nearly scrap. I finally found a manual online about an hour ago WITH DIAGRAMS. We had the best dinner around 2 0clock (our time). Now for the desserts. I’m slowly sipping through a wonderful bottle of Armagnac and listening to the Chieftains wail away on the “St Stephen’s Day Murders”. Doesn’t get any better, if you must be isolated. We’re thinking about enjoying the Wizard of Oz with Dessert. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you.

Good times; talked with kids on phone, had a bone-in rib roast for wive and myself (we’ll have beef for the next five days).

Thanks for asking !

Merry back at YA !

It was just my wife and I here. We had a 2 hour zoom call with the kids, and FaceTime calls with them indiividually.
It isn’t the same, of course, but it did take the edge off.

It was fine. I’ve had very similar Christmas’ in the past. I made a nice dinner (we actually ate it for lunch) for Christmas Eve. In the evening we FaceTimed my MIL and BILs.

Christmas Day I barely remember what we did, my husband celebrates Christmas on Christmas Eve.
