Shouldn't the Constitution be capitalized?

I have seen four or five instances on Fluther in the last few days referencing “the constitution.” Since it is a specific document, it is my understanding that it should always be capitalized.
What gives?

Yes, the title of the governing document of law for the US should be capitalized. Flag each error. I used to make my living as a proofreader and copy editor.
@Hawaii_Jake Oh, I know it should; the question was a polite way of chiding people.
Yeah, I get lazy. Although I haven’t said that word in the past few days.
i wish e.e. had written a poem about the united states constitution. ;-(
Of course it should, but it’s a lesser offense apart from a class assignment. Were it for publication, that’s what the editorial slaves are for.
Yes.
And it ought to be Modernized and Civilized too.
On Fluther, there are so many words spelled incorrectly, I think due to autocorrect and people not editing what they type before they post it. Yes, Constitution should be capitalized but that’s a small error compared to others that I see.
The USA has a constitution that it calls the Constitution, so depending on the phrasing of what you’re saying, the word might be capitalized or not. The Constitution vs. a constitution.
@Zaku Yes, clearly, but in all these instances the posters are referring to our Constitution.
