Have you bought a product on the internet not knowing it will ship from China and when you needed to ship it back you found out it’s a bit complicated?

Asked by mazingerz88 (29260points) January 5th, 2021 from iPhone

I tried DHL but apparently I need a manufacturing number that the seller can’t provide.

I’m going to try the post office next. Thank you.

You’re going to need to make out a “Customs” document. Here is FedEx’s page for China shipments. Click on “Tips for Shipping to China” and then “Documents”.

Yes.

Pain in the butt, and Amazon needs to do a much better job of managing their sellers.

Pain in the butt indeed. Next time I’m making sure where the product ships from.

I bought an item on eBay. I put in the filter I specify US only and discovered it was coming from Indonesia. I filed a complaint and tried to cancel. Bottom line it was cancelled.

@Tropical_Willie Not Amazon. Purchased from the company website. It looked like it’s the company’s website. Assuming they ship from the US was plain dumb. lol

I bought from a California company last March for a birthday present for artistic grandson. His birthday is April, 10 days later I get a shipping notice from a company I don’t recognize, check notice and figure out the shipment is coming from China through Hong Kong, Received first item June 15th, about that time received shipment notice for second half. That was received end of July.

^^So the post office took it for 67 bucks. Just hoping it gets back to the seller intact so they can send me the replacement.

They asked me for 75 bucks to ship the right order / replacement to me so I argued it’s not my fault they messed up my order. They cut it down to 35. But now that I paid 67 bucks for mailing I don’t want to pay that 35 either.

My daughter wanted some “merch” which, when I checked the website, I saw that it was coming from China. I went on Amazon and put the description of the merch in the search bar, and I found a bunch of imitations. I ordered one that wasn’t going to take weeks to ship and I got it within a few days.
