In light of current events (Trump supporters violently storming the Capitol), do you think Republicans that planned to contest the electoral votes, will rethink their plans?

Asked by ragingloli (52278points) January 6th, 2021

Or will they press on with it, when they reconvene?

I’m not expecting them to do anything intelligent, fair, or wise.

As far as I can see, our only hope for saving what’s left of our skin is for them to see that their own self-interest lies in not destroying the rest of us.

And if they don’t, I guess it’s going to be the survivalists and the Mormons who come out the other side.

One thing is certain: Trump is not going to save them. I don’t think he’d lift a finger to save anyone but himself and Ivanka.

I also think this is what he’s wanted all along.

Oh, I just posited that idea on elbandito’s thread! I hope they are getting a good scare.

@Jeruba Fair or wise, no. But maybe this is too far even for them. And I agree, not for Trump. It’s what he wants.

Republicans are at the end of their run. I new party will show up for 2022. Abraham Lincoln would be ashamed.

I didn’t think they would, but it seems they might be.

Well, it’s over…for now. Last one to leave the Capital building turn out the lights!

Our representative made too much of her name running interference for Trump to get away from him completely. She basically has a very low opinion of the people in the district and has decided, rightly or wrongly, that she needs to hang in there to keep the support of the gibbering masses.
