Can you name a brand of air conditioner that you trust? And any brand you wish you'd never bought?

I have a portable one by DeLonghi.
Working fine for now.

Whole house is still Trane, Carrier and Lennox. My service tech for HVAC told when my 16 year old Trane needs to be replaced; he would recommend another Trane.

He not a Trane only dealer either.

I have Carrier. I’ve had it since 2012. No issues so far.

Ive been reading about different brands and have come up with American Standard and Carrier Infinity being the so-called best.

We have a Lenox was super for 15years after that we have had quite a few issues with it replaced everything but the condenser, and we only did that because we have a friend who is a retired AC tech, and he could get the parts for cost and gave us a break on his labour.
If we didn’t have him we no doubt would have had to replace it a while back.

Were I you, I would locate a mechanical contractor—preferably a family firm that has been in business for some time. Call the business and ask to talk to the shop foreman. Pump him for recommendations. It puzzles me that there are so many questions here from women about practical matters. How do you gals arrive at this age without a master list of trades people whose judgement you trust?
