Would the death of a US Senator during the Trump mob attack in Capitol Hill compel most Republican politicians to support impeaching Trump?

Asked by mazingerz88 (29229points) January 23rd, 2021 from iPhone

How many theoretical deaths and whose would it take for majority of Republicans in the Senate and HoR to support a second impeachment?

I very much doubt it.
5 people died in this one, and only 10 house republicans voted for impeachment.

stanleybmanly's avatar

Nope. Not at all. Were God himself to manifest Himself before the dummies and threaten them with the damnation they most assuredly deserve, it would not make a bit of difference.

The GOP Congress members that gave guided tours of the Capitol just before the riots; they won’t vote for impeachment. They still think they can get Trump back in office.

” . . . .tours were highly unusual both because of the timing just before the invasion of the halls of Congress, and because of Covid-19 restrictions that have limited public access to congressional buildings.”

You realize, of course that it was the blm and antifa wearing MAGA hats who stormed the capitol? They were caught on tape bragging about pulling it off. Trump supporters would never consider doing that.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@si3tech I’d like to believe that. Credible source?

Tropical_Willie's avatar

^^^ Source please @si3tech !

Especially when all of your “antifa” caught by police are are members of KKK, Proud Boys and other Fright Wing organizations ! Great make-up jobs. They have been Fright wingers since Newt Gingrich.

ragingloli's avatar

He keeps repeating the same lie.

zenvelo's avatar

Depends on the Senator. If it had been Lindsey Graham, the GOP would be upset. If it was Ted Cruz, well, no one likes him anyway.

stanleybmanly's avatar

You folks do understand that @si3tech must be pulling our chain. No one who can read or write would expect to be taken seriously at this stage while repeating such nonsense aloud. I’m waiting for some Democrat in the Senate to simply stand up and ask something like: “Come on fellas. Does the devil actually have to sprout a tail and horns before you can pretend you are suspicious?”

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Saying the rioters were BLM, is like saying Trump did not incite the damn riot.
It’s a LIE.
What did you think would happen when trump said we are going to march to the Capital and cheer on the congress people that are doing the right thing ,the others won’t be so happy to see us.
\Then DonJr said it’s time for war, and Rudy saying it’s time for trial by combat, to a foaming at the mouth mob, they sure as heck were not going there to tour the gardens.
Impeachment will be to kind to ole Orange hair.

Here are two sources:https://news.yahoo.com/capitol-riot-was-falseflag-operation-by-leftists-trump-backers-claim-with-no-basis-051703320.html
https://www.teaparty247.org/undeniable-proof-that-antifa-stormed-the-capitol-continues-to-mount/

There are more.

ragingloli's avatar

Well done.
An article that contradicts your claim, and a laughable right wing rag.
You should be embarrassed.

si3tech's avatar

While I supported Trump and am conservative, I did not make this up. It came iiu shortly after the riot.

stanleybmanly's avatar

Some of the people-all of the time.

JLoon's avatar

I’ve always thought most of them were dead already.

ragingloli's avatar

@si3tech
Even YOUR article has a correction right at the beginning:
“An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that XRVision facial recognition software identified Antifa members among rioters who stormed the Capitol Wednesday. XRVision did not identify any Antifa members. The Washington Times apologizes to XRVision for the error.”

stanleybmanly's avatar

face it magaheads. Time to conjure up another totem. This one has so thoroughly disgraced himself and (by implication) you, that the sooner you can relegate him to the lunatic ash heap of history (as has the world at large) the faster the opportunity to fall in behind the next megalomaniacal dummy to catch your fancy. I will grant you that this one is impossible to top.

si3tech's avatar

I am very sorry I commented. Please forgive my intrusion. It was not necessary to to destroy me with you words. All y’all must be right.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Don’t be sorry you thought you were right, both sides have slipped into the muck by attacking the person, your sources were very wrong and it was pointed out.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

BUT come on listen to Trump at the rally he knew that mob was foaming at the mouth,he did nothing to calm them a bit, his son and lawyer stoked them up even more, then they marched on the Capital, they were not going for a tour of the gardens.
5 people died that day and one was police officer doing his job.
And all the fright wing can do is compare it to the BLM protests, and even blame BLM for this ..
I mean really?

I could almost hang my head and cry real tears for the basically decent people out there unwilling or (I just cannot believe it) unable to fault the appalling deformity that skulks now in Florida. How anyone at this point would place their trust and belief in so PROVEN and openly venomous a despicable snake eludes me beyond desperation. These are people we NEED, and sooner or later, one way or another, must depend on. Are we all doomed?

You should be locked in a yard for your own protection. Bad dog!

SQUEEKY2's avatar

You just can’t face the fact that your hero was caught trying to over throw the Government.

ragingloli's avatar

The way that drumpf justified their actions, and told them that he loves them, certainly shows that he considered them his supporters.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Exactly @ragingloli but our loyal fright wingers will deny any wrong doing on Trumps part to their dying breath.
You do have admire their blind loyalty even if it’s misguided.

ragingloli's avatar

I do not admire blind loyalty, for anything.

Do you watch NewMax @Yellowdog to get those FAUX ?

I hear they lie or make up stuff 75% of the time – -

speaking of which i understand the have the wrong time displayed on the screen at all times.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

I will also point out @Yellowdog The Capital has top of the line surveillance cameras, and they have already identified quite a few rioters that were in the building.
NOT one has been identified as a BLM person or antifa so please stop trying to shift the blame, this was your hero’s doing, and he should be convicted and barred from ever holding public office again.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Also @Yellowdog a lot of these idiots posted their breach of the Capital on social media and a few have been identified through that as well.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@si3tech Quite honestly, proof or not, I also believe many were alt or fringe groups, too.
I’ve always said those are not my people. So I know where you’re coming from. But like the summers riots, when people are all out its going to attract wacko’s, like it or not.
Its not our responsibility as Reps to defend if we werent there. Peace.

stanleybmanly's avatar

@si3tech it’s been bothering me since I read it. How can anyone capable of turning such a phrase as “it was not necessary to destroy me with your words” be an advocate for Trump?

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Nice answer there @KNOWITALL , but we are all guilty of lumping the wackos in with the rest of the pack from time to time, how many lumped all the BLM people together when a few went crazy and rioted ?
How many lump all muslims to gether and calls them all terrorists even the former president did that.
How many lumped all Trump supporters as full blown wackos, I know I am guilty of that.
What is your responsibility if you were there?
