Does anyone else find it really nauseating that MSNBC called Obama, Bush, and Clinton “The Avengers”?

Did MSNBC actually frame it that way (“These guys who got rid of Glass-Steagall, invaded Iraq, and sent drones to kill innocent brown people are the Avengers, and we are praising them specifically for those acts rather than some other collective action that they took far more recently!”), or are you just upset about the fact that the world and its leadership is composed primarily of people who are neither wholly good nor wholly evil (much like, you know, the Avengers themselves)?
Obviously they didn’t frame it that way. I just listed some of their worst decisions and made a joke. MSNBC called them The Avengers because they come across as nice people, as opposed to Trump. Which is just embarrassing. They think they’re uniting America without actually doing anything of substance.
And no I’m upset that many politicians who pretend to be liberal are actually moderate republicans who don’t actively represent tax paying citizens. They represent corporations and their donors.
Also, I give credit to Biden for undoing a lot of what Trump did in office. But that’s the bare minimum. Biden is already giving large subsidies to health insurance companies.
I don’t get to see much MSNBC beyond the odd clip, but all those people are obnoxious regardless of fawning propaganda.
You can add the bombing and destabilisation of Libya to the crimes of Clinton and Obama.
A country now riven by criminal warlords, and where the poor can be trafficked and sold into slavery.
If there were any justice, those three would be crawling on their bellies and wailing for forgiveness for the rest of their mortal lives, or just hanged for their mass murder. Instead they get to flash their shit-eating grins and shamelessly parade themselves like they’re some sort of fucking rock stars.
@rockfan It has been said that 50% of Democrats and 55% of Republicans are actually Moderates, so you can’t expect them to be radically left or right.
And America is about being Capitalistic, and Capitalists like to make money, which isn’t a bad thing.
@Kropotkin Sometimes war is about mass murder, like what Hitler did to the Jews and other minorities, so don’t fault Clinton and Obama. War is a thing humans do, so accept it. (Besides, there are too many people on the planet so why not kill off a few hundred or thousand million? It could only help our eventual situation…)
But “moderate” within the DC bubble is basically serving corporate interests and their donors, while being socially liberal. Internationally speaking, social democrats like Bernie Sanders are the actual moderates. He supports competition within capitalism and universal healthcare (a form of single payer that exists in every other modern country)
@kritiper I’m not sure, but I think you missed out on some winking smiley face, or some less subtle indication of irony.
@kritiper: “And America is about being Capitalistic, and Capitalists like to make money, which isn’t a bad thing.”
Amen brother!
@kritiper: “War is a thing humans do, so accept it.”
Absolutely. If we didn’t bomb people and invade other countries to make these places friendly to capital, we wouldn’t be able to continue our way of life. War to profit global capital is patriotic, so accept it!
@kritiper: “Besides, there are too many people on the planet so why not kill off a few hundred or thousand million? It could only help our eventual situation.”
There are way too many people, so lets kill off a bunch if it means we’ll be able to drive to Walmart and buy stuff! Overpopulation is strictly a numbers game and absolutely nothing to do with resource consumption or carbon footprint.
If god didn’t want us to bomb people so some of us could enjoy the good life, why would He have created the US of A?
I suppose it would, if I ever watched MSNBC.
I don’t get that channel.
I find MSNBC nauseating all too often the last 4 years. That was my go to channel for politics for many years. Since Trump they shifted farther left and are the Fox for the left.
They consistently say things that try to manipulate the citizenry and politicians. They are either brainwashed themselves or they say things and laugh when off air. I said that last part about Trump quite often, that he laughs behind his followers backs about how easy it is to manipulate them.
I do still watch MSNBC sometimes, they do deliver some information that is important, but it sickens me that people are so bamboozled some of what is said on cable media outlets.
@JLeslie: “Since Trump they shifted farther left and are the Fox for the left.”
No. They’re still patriotic Americans that saved us from the radical socialism of Bernie Sanders. They are not leftist, thank god. They are pro-wall street and private health insurance industry. MSNBC is owned by a large corporation, so fortunately they will never lean left!
@JLeslie That is honestly the most confusing and baffling take on politics I’ve read in a while. And I think it mainly has to do with how we define “farther left” differently. Because to me, the farthest left person on MSNBC is Ali Velshi, and he believes in standard social democracy that’s popular in Europe. And yet, those countries are not considered far left.
MSNBC to me is pretty much sycophantic to the Democratic Party, and that’s nowhere near far left. It’s a part of the “moderate” establishment in Washington.
@rockfan I would just say MSNBC is more or less basically against anything a Republican says or does. Definitely on the side of the Democrats on most social and fiscal issues, but I agree they are not extreme left in terms of ideology.
I’m just talking about bias. Knee jerk reactions, and rally around their favorite politicians like groupies at a Beatles concert. It looks almost as crazy to me as Trumpers.
Idolizing Obama, now in love with Biden. Idolizing any politician is scary to me. Like they can do no wrong.
MSNBC has no clear understanding of where their comments are actually harmful they are so in their own bubble.
More nauseating than politics in general?
Not really.
