House panel is considering dropping Rep. Marjorie Greene from committees for spreading lies and misinformation. Is this a big deal or is it just a token slap on the wrist?

Good question, I have no idea.
It will e great if they have the spine to make this little freak sit out, I mean Jewish space lasers from space starting the California wild fires?
If they just don’t back bench her it will make the whole party look like it’s ok to be a conspiracy kook.
It’s fairly significant.
A lot of members build power bases as a result of their committee work, so if not on a committee, they don’t have much of a political future.
Further, depending on the committee, it can be used to get government money, installations, and jobs to the congress person’s district. (think NASA having their flight HQ in Houston, or the US Navy having a big installation in West Virginia, 100 miles from the nearest ocean).
Essentially, no committee = a weakened congressman.
I agree with @elbanditoroso, it’s more a social construct that’s part of the political game, than anything else. The more committees or Advisory Boards, the better and more important you ‘appear’ to your fellows and constituents. Aka, more juice.
Her position of power with the voters in her state have been moved down.
“If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.”
If you don’t want to get thrown off House committees, don’t promote conspiracy theories and inflammatory comments supporting violence against other lawmakers.
That she was ever put on any committee is ridiculous.
My guess is they build networks in government and business through committees and being in the good ol’ boy network can lead to monetary opportunities and power in various ways.
I wonder if the committee she was put on is considered a not very lucrative committee.
Being removed I would guess carries some shame, so that would be a big deal, a blow to her psychologically probably, like being shunned or fired.
@JLeslie One of the committees was education so kind of a big deal to have a raving nut job on it!
Let’s be honest here – Greene didn’t get in by herself. She convinced 100,000 bozos in NW Georgia to vote for her. They enabled her, knowing what a danger and fool she was.
So they get what they deserve.
although, I should add, her district has some really fascinating Civil War and Native American sites
@janbb I know, it’s outrageous she was put on education. I wonder if it’s less prestigious and/or less lucrative.
@elbanditoroso But the committees affect national policy.
It’s a public slap in the face. That is its power.
Maybe she can get elected Dog Catcher next time.
She won’t be able to get any legislation passed, not even a line item in a budget bill to fix a post office or repair a road. The only federal aid to her district will be national aid or aid to Georgia.
Part of being on a committee is that you can get your bills through the committee and then bund;ed with other legislation tp get approved by the whole House.
@zenvelo So even if something she suggests is good it will get rejected? Even anything that the committee comes up with will get rejected, because she’s on the committee?
@JLeslie If she were capable of “suggesting something good”, she would have a hard time getting anyone to give it a read.
She is proposed for the Education Committee, which is a slap in the face of school shooting survivors and victims. She has called the Parkland school massacre false, and mocked a Parkland shooting survivor as ‘an idiot’ who was trained ‘like a dog’.
I don’t see that anything good will be coming out of her mouth.
@zenvelo Of course it is a slap in the face. It’s horrible. They should remove her from that committee immediately. It wouldn’t surprise me if a lot of congressmen had no idea she did and said those horrible things, but now they know, now everyone knows, no excuse.
@chyna It’s not like it’s impossible for a horrible person to show some rational thought once in a while. That’s the problem. People cling to the good and ignore the terrible, but when the terrible parts are bad enough, none of the good should matter.
The point that matters in this is that I have vivid memories of a time when any politician as defective as this bitch had sense enough to conceal such defects from the public. Now we know where the future lies for those spared the “benefits” of all those boarded up asylums.
I saw a clip of Marjorie Greene on the House Floor saying 9/11 is real and she was in a school shooting situation as a teen and cares about all the children, and trying to save herself I guess. Accused the media of editing video of her, but the CNN person I was watching said they let 3 minutes straight of video of her going on about something, I don’t remember which thing he was referring to; harassing the teen from the Parkland shooting, or going on about crazy laser beams, or maybe something else.
^ She called them “Jewish laser beams”, not to be confused with other laser beams.
She’s a bit off her rocker. Unless there are Jewish laser beams that I don’t know about. If so, then I’m off MY rocker. :-)
@janbb One of the committees was education so kind of a big deal to have a raving nut job on it!
Especially when the Department of Education will be recovering from Amway Fever!!~~
I just read she was removed from the committee.
@chyna Oh yeah, I forgot Jewish. Those Jews are so clever with their amazing inventions, now it’s lasers. She hates Jews, Muslims, she is full of horribleness.
I just saw on a news clip Green has been removed from both committees she was sitting on
I’m Jewish. I’m planning to shop for some space lasers this weekend. I’ll aim them at Northwest Georgia.
Just another reason why Trump is so downright dangerous. His very existence is permission and hope for the nation’s delusional megalomaniacs to realize their ambitions. I find it frustrating as well as confusing. I mean should I be admiring these psychopaths on their refreshing candor in revealing their conditions, or appalled at their indiscretion in parading them before the world?
@stanleybmanly _ I mean should I be admiring these psychopaths on their refreshing candor in revealing their conditions, or appalled at their indiscretion in parading them before the world?_
Yes, to both. You have to look no farther than talk radio to see how this particular theory got traction and took off.
