Why are Republicans making it harder for their fellow Americans to vote rather than making it easier?

Asked by mazingerz88 (29203points) February 7th, 2021 from iPhone

Seems recently there’s a strong push by Republican politicians to make it even harder for citizens to vote. Do they believe it’s the only way for them to win elections?

Pretty much.

Yes, of course. And for those of you who don’t get the hint: what other class in this society (aside from politicians) is so necessarily devoted to denial or subversion of “the will of the people”?

That is their game plan !

How exactly are they making it harder for you to vote?

Uh just a few things I have heard @cheebdragon reducing polling stations in poorer districts ,cutting way down on advance polling stations, and reducing ballot drop box’s.

. . I have a friend, who is a person of color, that had to go over to her mother’s home to take her for the third time to get re-registered (she was a Democrat in a largely Republican district uses the bus to get around) the first two times the voter registration person told she didn’t have all the right paperwork. My friend went with her mother and the list of required paperwork (which was what she brought the first two times). She got registered to vote.

Oh the reason she had to re-register was she was removed by someone in the voter registration organization. Was because of her age, her party affiliation or her skin color??

@Tropical_Willie States are required to remove “inactive voters” from registration rolls if they do not respond to an address confirmation notice and then fail to vote in the next two general federal elections. It’s part of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993.

Can you guess how many republicans supported it?

The person voted for the previous four elections but was black, old and female (also Democrat). She was not “inactive voter ” – - – just someone the GOP wanted off the voter registration.

“Jim Crow” is still in the South – - – @cheebdragon !
