Just wondering how the “shake to shuffle” feature on the new iPod Nano will work when you’re jogging with it.
Else, all looks cool.
Was really hoping for updates to the MacBooks, though. So… slightly bummed.
i’m sure the new macs will come in november or something, as for the shake, i bet it’s not active when it’s on hold or something, and you’ll probably have to shake it pretty “wide”, like having to flip the touch pretty exagerated for it to register
I’m asking myself why they didn’t continue the ‘fat’-style like the 3rd gen.
@klaas4, this form factor allows for a bigger screen than the fatty. Just turn it sideways.
Yeah that’s the problem: it’s getting too large for my taste. I’ll stick to my 3rd gen.
As for the iPhone, I hope it is less buggy. Wasn’t so much of a problem, but glad they (I hope) fixed it.
well, today i was holding a 2nd g and i was smiling, i like the form, the style, it feels pretty…relaxing…
Maybe it’s because I have no room in my schoolbag with all those damn books… :)
I think the ipod looks pretty cool. Can’t believe still no cut & paste on the iphone.
I like the nano colors, and I love how the iPod touch will have a speaker!
I think apple was trying to be bold and accidentally just did something they did a few years ago, or made obvious adjustments in the case of the ipod touch.
Never mind. I see what you’re talking about.
i love the new ipod touch! actaully im selling now the old ipod to get the new one as soon as possible!!! yahoo!!! anyone interested!?!?
The iPod Touch looks pretty unchanged, I bought one before the iPhone was available so I can see the appeal as a half-way to iPhone product, do they really have to make it so obvious? At least with the previous design it looked a little bit unique.
The new Nanos are great, but I can’t believe they still haven’t fixed the iPod Classic interface, which is the worst interface on any iPod, ever.
I would have liked a bit more iPhone news at the event (I know its an iPod event but we’re all still hanging out for copy/paste/push notifications and news on updates which improve stability.).
Speaking of which, I was using a 1st Gen iPod Touch with the original firmware the other day, damn did it work seamlessly!
Have any of you guys downloaded the new itunes yet? I quite like the new genius thing.. I didn’t think it’d work very well, but it seems pretty good. The new visualizer is pretty sweet, too.
genius is still collecting over here, pretty curious what it’ll come up with
Genuis chooses songs that are similar to the one playing from your iTunes Library and makes them into a playlist, or recommends others that you might like in the iTunes Store.
I like the playlist-making function, but that iTunes Store sidebar is too cluttered and messy, its also quite slow to change content so its not very nice to have sitting taking up 20% of your window.
out of curiosity.. does the iPod have a feature that plays songs that it hasn’t played in a while? My Zen Micro had it… you could select that feature and it would shuffle all the songs it hadn’t landed on for a long time… “Not Recently Heard” I think.
wow, genius works great, for instance, i select this quite loose clean track from gilmoures latest solo album, and i get stuff like the seeker (the who) and tubular bells, exactly, mood fitting songs
@poof, I don’t think you can do that directly on an ipod, but you could create a new smart playlist in itunes which uses the last played date and then sync that onto the ipod.
@damien: the ability to do that might be a reason for me to switch to iPod.. maybe..
since we don’t have zunes here in holland (or maybe i just never saw them), what’s so zune like about the new nano’s ? can you tilt a zune like a nano ? or is it the shape ?
Zunes are nothing like the new nano.
that’s what i thought, but hey, never even saw one in the wild, so i thought i’d ask first, thanks powderd toast man !
very funny iwamoto. I love the new iPod touch, not very changed but definitely better. I like it, speakers, new headphones, volume buttons, I could get used to this It is time to replace my 5G iPod Video….
And wondering what the new macs are gonna look like. (If they come out)
Anyone want a 1st gen iPod Touch? 8 gigs, near mint condition, and you get nearly 100 USD worth of apps (if you don’t reset it, that is).
love the new features. will buy one when it comes here.
somewhere in south east asia. i think i need at least 2–3 weeks, for istores in here to have it on display
Aww that stinks. Everyone is talking about it while you are left out. That stinks.
^^at least i still have my 1st gen shuffle which looks exactly like those 3rd gen shuffles. 2 – 3 weeks isn’t that long. :D
True. But everyone is raving about how good they are and rj is left out.
I just found a new feature of the iPod Touch update that was not mentioned (probably one of the bug fixes). When you update an app, it no longer goes to the end of the last home screen. No more unnecessary reorganization!
@eambos How much do you want for it?
Aprox. 180 USD. I am a rich prince from nigeria, so if you could just wire me that money, I’ll send ou the iPod and $100000
I like the new iPods. Though I still miss the fatty nanos. Haha. It’s funny how people think because the nano just got a wider screen it’s a Zune rip-off.
I have an iPod touch first generation. I got it last year for christmas and it was just under $400. Now for an even better iPod (2nd gen) its only $299 for the same amount of GB i have(8GB). This is an outrage, I am pretty much ripped off $100, and I have a crappier iPod than those who own a 2nd gen and I had it first!
hmm, that’s what they call the shifting price of memory is guess, oh well, no point in getting mad, right ?
yeah im oubviously annoyed, but not really mad. I just think its a rip off in a sense..
well, it’s just a natural law, just like hard drives, i remember paying a euro per gig. and now i’m paying a few cents per gig, yeah, prices changed, and that does suck sometimes, but on the other hand, if you needed it, you’ve had that year of fun with it, right ?
is it too late to buy an ipod touch now? assuming the next gen will come out this summer.
@rj325, the recommendation from MacRumors on whether to buy an iPod Touch now (19JAN2009) is neutral.
It’s 135 days into the current product cycle, with an average of 185. (Disclaimer, that 185 is based on a single data point… not much of an average).
The new Shuffle is kool, and the new Nano is really cool and I love the colors. The touch iPod is sooo kkool. I got one for xmas but its 1st gen and it doesnt have speakers! but its still really cool. i hate how all the cool apps need wifi, which is annoying to track.
