When Trump was behind glass to address the crowd before the attack on the Capitol was that another clue that even he knew those people were dangerous?

Asked by JLeslie (65789points) February 13th, 2021 from iPhone

When I first watched it weeks ago I was thinking in terms of covid, but Trump has never worried about needing a physical barrier regarding covid, he has always relied on distancing, and at this point he has antibodies and is likely immune.

Was that bullet proof glass? Can you think of any other time he was behind some sort of glass in front of a crowd?

No. The glass might have been there to cut down on feedback in the sound system.

@kritiper Have you seen that before at rallies and speeches?

@JLeslie The glass or the feedback?

I’ve seen the glass before but the large amount of glass at the rally you mention might have been to break the cold wind. But it was probably to enhance the sound system. It can’t be for protection because any idiot could angle a shot into the target if given the opportunity.

@kritiper…and had nothing to do with thousands of idiots with serious weaponry.

@filmfann Unknown. The glass isn’t thick enough to stop a FMJ round.

I’ve seen similar glass used all the way back into the late 60’s. Not as large, but the other times were when speeches were being given inside. Like during political conventions.

I don’t think trump was afraid of his mob. He was afraid a real patriotic American would blend in and would go nuts on him for the evil and the damage he had so far inflicted on the country.
